Not sure its a relay issue. Its funky on the LEFT side only. Sometimes it blinks fast, (no light, but you can hear it 2x as fast) sometimes it is normal. Not sure replacing the turn signal relay would do it.

*Also, in case I can't find the repair manual, where is the TS relay located? Thanks!!

was it all of a sudden or did you recently replace bulbs?...or is a bulb burnt out somewhere?

Is the 1999 a thermal blinker relay? Might just be going out and needs to be replaced. My motorcycle has a thermal and it won't blink at all until it warms up, then it blinks fast, then it blinks normal after it fully warms up.

There are no bulbs burned out or anything, no replacements. Its only one side and it seems to be connected to the turn signal lever.

When it blinks fast, if I turn off then on slowly it may go to normal.

Front dome light added, light reminder added, door chime mod, added 2nd gen 4runner headrests, grey wire mod, 2lo mod, more later.
I'm pretty sure your turn signal flasher is on top of your fuse panel in the cab.

Ok, thanks, but I wonder if its more an issue with the turn lever as it sometimes works. The blinker light on the inside does not work when it blinks fast. You just hear clickclickclick...

This is the exact issue I'm having with my '99.

Bulbs and holders check out. R turn signal works fine. L turn is the problem- sometimes works fine, sometimes fast-blinking and no lights activate.

Since I can temporarily "fix" the problem by moving the lever/switch arm, I strongly suspect it's the switch and not the relay or bulbs. Anyone replace a switch assembly before?

Success! Ordered a replacement turn signal/headlight lever switch. $47 and easy to install. Turn signals work great now- no "fast blink."

I guess 14 years and 260k miles is their limit.

Happened to me today in my 2001 . First time ever.

Right turn signal on, super fast blink. Turn it off, didn't repeat it at all all day. Normal blink since that once.

    All lights are functional

Was it a fluke or issues to come ?

I am having this issue now in my 2001. Have been getting the fast blinking on indicator light off and on for about a month. I've just let it go and had not checked during that time if the lights were functional. On a recent trip, the fast blinking of the right side TS indicator on the dash went from intermittent to constant. I assumed it was a bulb. Front right TS bulb was burnt out, but replacement did not fix the issue, and left front TS light not operating (Left TS indicator is normal). I suspect it is an issue with the signal/headlight lever switch. For some time now, the dashboard lights blink off for a split second when I flick the lever to actuate the TS lights. What is a good way to test this, other than just ordering replacement parts?

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Perhaps clean the sockets and the bulb bases .

Check with a Meter at the light if no voltage there check at the plug where the combination switch plugs in to the harness.

Your dash lights should not be connected to the turn signal the only common point is the ground points

Unless the System voltage is so low it draws everything down . Battery and Charging system working correct?
