Traction control, and Stability control are two different items.
A-TRAC (traction control) is not available or installed on all Tacoma's.
RSCA (stability control) is required by law in all 2011 vehicles (so I have been told).
I shut off my Stability control today ('11, 2.7l, 5 sp., 4x4, AC) and I was able to do it while moving. I simply pushed in the clutch, and held the button down for 3 seconds, and the "RSCA - Off" light in my dash came on.
A-TRAC is not a Differential Lock, and VSC is not RSCA.

rsca off is for the side curtain airbags,

in my truck (09 2.7 5spd) i cannot turn off the trac (VSC) while in 4wd, i have to put it back in 2 then hold for 5 seconds, then engage 4wd again, kind of a pain when i stall, haha

    Welcome to the forum. :)

My 2009 doesn't operate that way. As long as the truck is completely still I can disable the VSC. For me it does not matter what gear the transmission is in. Press and hold the VSC off switch for 5 seconds to disable.

There was a time when I had some issues not being able to disable VSC using the said method, but after a dealer visit, the problem mysteriously went away.

Hey just got my 2012 a week ago. Non manual reader to, but this thread helped. I put it in park either in 4WD or 2WD hold the Trac Control button down till my traction control off light and stab control off light come on and were good. I can switch between 2wd 4hi and 4lo it all stays off until I cycle to engine.

Old thread but new issue for me, my '08 taco didn't have any off the fancy features, im not a fan off them.

Just had a question on this. I have a 13' TRD OffRoad and I can hold the button for 3 seconds and turn off both the TRAC & VSC which putts the truck in my control. Now when I just hit the button once it will turn off VSC and turn on Auto LSD, what is that doing? From what I tried it turns on the Auto LSD in a straight line but as soon as I tried whipping it sideways the VSC came on and broke up the party.

Is that right? What is the difference between Auto LSD and TRAC/Off???

yes that's right. One click turns off your Trac, and as long as your not sideways the truck will not stop your party. Holding the button while in park means the party can now begin.
