I planed this down to remove the router marks, but now I'm thinking it might make more sense to chop it into coasters. Its thin for a board. Thoughts?

Maybe add a border on the underside that will allow it to rest on the stove surface and sit about a 1/4” over the burners. Might make it somewhat heavier though :notsure:. Not sure if that option was mentioned

I dreamed that spalted maple started congregating in my shop of its own accord in vast numbers and started following me around.:confused::confused::confused::confused:

It was a little spooky. Is there something I need to know about this wood? We got any dream interpreters on here?

I cant interpret that dream...but the wood is caused by a fungus as the tree is starting to die. Causing the black streaks. Usually makes it more brittle the further it starts to decompose

Yikes! Well that sounds foreboding for me. :annoyed:

Should I expect other hardwood species to make appearances in my dreams? Is this a thing for woodworkers? I mean I've already had sanding dreams.
