meh... I never really had any issues with them and I have spent 12 years driving them......you were only 4 years old when I got my first one

My 97' 5.0 runs just fine and gets better mileage than most built Tacomas

My 99' 4.0 ran for 10 years 200k just fine before I sold it. Way less trouble than my Tacoma.

My brothers 2004 was a total POS though. Broke down at least 4 times the last summer he owned it. I'm not really a fan of anything Ford made from 2001 - 2011. Bad decade IMO.

Ill be one lucky SOB if my 08' Tacoma lasts for 17 years like this Ford has. Hell Ill be lucky if my Toyota has a frame under it and if by chance it doesn't turn into a pile of rust on the ground by then Ill be on wheel bearing #31

SMH, 16 yo should not have a vehicle like that. Specialy a female, (no offence to the ladies on here) but they are the worst around here for texting and driving. She'll be texting and run someone's car over!

 

I like it the 7.3 was the best motor they had.

I spent 4 year working a two Ford dealerships and 2002 the first year for the square body and where nothing but problems from the beginning. The auto trans had a basket that held clutches together that would crack and split and pretty much killed the trans, the Idle air control valves where shit, the rear windows on the 02 an 03 would explode with out warning which they redesigned for 04. (The struts for the glass where mounted through rhe glass with the dimple on the outside of the glass and the struts where to heavy.) The plastic trim under the window would crack over time. The older ones with the 5.0 are good, but the v6 are dogs a lot of noise with no go and had about the same MPG as the 5.0. My sister inlaw had a Mounteneer with the 5.0 and beat the hell out of it, she did manage to kill the motor.
