I am the proud owner of a new Tacoma 10 Access Cab and as such have bought into the two year factory / dealer oil change and tire rotation scheduled maintenance. I understand the oil provided for this service is Toyota oil. Some internet soul searching netted that this stuff is in reality Mobil Clean fleet oil via 55 gallon drum. I understand this is not bad oil as bulk oil goes but is probably not the best money could buy either. Being a new truck I am not sure I should stress out about the bulk oil and bring my own stuff for the change ($$$) or just let them worry about it. Any opinions? Yeah, I know it's a weenie question but I don't buy many new vehicles and this is my first new truck in 40 years of driving. Id rather not screw this up. Also any opinions about the dealership “oil change specialists” would also be appreciated.

IMO, Mobil Clean is good oil. Unless you want to run synthetic, I wouldn't worry about bringing in your own oil.

They are "specialists" but that doesn't mean they are good. You've paid for the oil changes already- so I'd either try to get your money back and do them yourself...or take what you paid for...but I wouldn't give those guys money for free by bringing your own oil...

Ditto. At this point in your truck's life, clean oil is the most critical thing. Just get it changed often and you'll be fine.

    Thanks,
I'll go the dealer route. The two year thing came with the truck although in the long run I guess everyone pays for this.

Oh ok for a second I was thinking you paid for it. It's one of the promos they've got going on right now.

10-4, Buy a truck or car and get two years "free" oil change, tire rotation and "multi point inspection". It does add a little someting to the deal.:D
