Damn, more than I thought, figured maybe 1k or so. It would be awesome to have the truck to pick apart as I make the swap, but I also debate because it is running and the body/interior is in great shape. Might be able to fetch a 3k or more for it whole. Hmmm

True, problem is you need all the smog stuff and misc parts that nickle and dime you (power steering, air box, sensors, OBDII, belts, evap). Those will add up to a few hundred alone and be a pain to source.

At the same time there seems to be a lot of third gens at pick n pull around here at least and the market is pretty full of part out lately.
It's a tough call but if it makes life easier and a guaranteed swap I'd say you know the quality of your parts and they are readily available.

Fine sand is ridiculous. At the great sand dunes in CO I only aired down to 28psi because I was lazy and kinda in a rush so I didn't want to air back up from a lower psi. I ended up having to air down to 18 later on because I was just digging and sinking.

Availability, at the time. Savage was taking a long time even releasing designs and when I called 4X they said it would be at my door in 3 weeks, which it was.

Price, I'm pretty sure the 4X is a little cheaper.

Looks, I really like the look of the 4X. The Savage doesn't look bad, but the 4X fits my truck better I think. I'm not too big on the holes in the savage bumper on the wings and rear shelf thing.

Strength, the 4X bumper is stout. Like really stout. It's built around a trailer hitch. It's very heavy also. One of the reasons I wanted a rear bumper was some more protection in a low speed rear end collision like I see all too often around here. The 4X seemed like it would hold up the best.

4X was also proven at the time and has been on the market awhile. The savage wasn't even released or just barely released when I ordered mine over a year ago.

Knowing the history of the motor and that it ran is huge rather than buying just a motor that's not proven. I think I'd use the motor/truck you currently have and then part what's left.

Nice! One of the best tires I've ever owned, good choice. Remember to do the Tread Lightly rebate for an extra $100 off.

Oh ya? Never heard of that. I placed 2 orders on discount tire directs eBay store with the $100 off $400 deal. So I ended up paying $165 a tire for LT285/75/17’s

Edit- can you link me the rebate?

If I can get 285/75/17 Falkens for $660 shipped, I might be buying some tundra wheels

    It's more complicated than that...haha

You have to join tread lightly first for $50. Then in your welcome packet they send you a $100 Falken rebate form and a $50 discount tire rebate. Use both and it ends up being $100 off.

When Donahoe went to Icon, did they change anything besides the name?

No I don’t believe there isn’t any difference between the two internally.

Planning on it. The question is, leveling kit and then King's later this year, Bilsteins and leave it for a year, or just wait until Black Friday and order Kings.

I'm throwing an RTT on the back of it and will probably hit some fire roads when camping. Plus Kings :D. But you're probably right. I'm gonna start shopping around.

If you’re just going to upgrade from billies later, do Kings now
