Yeah, I'm really glad we made it home. Doing this on the side of the road somewhere would have sucked. I'm honestly surprised this thing lasted 110k miles.

Oh I agree with that too. A dude that just bought an 86 claims he wants a Model 3 for a daily Driver. That’s grounds to chop his penis off for sure

That’s a lot more work than I think is needed. I don’t know what limits your travel, but I would definitely disconnect just the rear shocks and panhard, and lower the suspension to get the coils out.

I ratchet strap the axle tubes to my rear bumper to keep them in place when I remove the lowers

New starter is in, she's running perfect again.

Another option is to use spring compressors for replacing the rear coils, but that doesn't help you with the 3rd. That's how I put my 861s in the rear. It was easier than trying to shove a huge coil in there while keeping an eye on brake lines, abs lines, disconnecting shocks and links, etc.

Everyone says they're not safe, but if you use them smartly they're fine. They don't need to compress that much to get them in at full droop.

Damn I wish I could have wired my high beams. I couldn't wire them and mount my halos. Looks good dude!

thanks. that's a real bummer about not being able to wire them up, they are stupid bright. I figured ill eventually build another set and ill explore with halos on that one. I wasn't even going to paint this set, but shit happens and im glad I did. your halos rgb? how do you control them?

Yikes, that’s a little scary. Mine has nearly identical miles as you and it was super clean inside when I did contacts and plunger this summer. Same with our 99 at 290k.

And change in sound or start up lights one?

Agreed, not a fan of him. Would still love to have a 220 mile range on electric since my work has a supercharger. Great way to commute and avoid the new 4 dollar gas prices in LA and not have to drive a shitty electric car like a nissan leaf.
    Why not both?
@4Running Daily figured out my plan from the beginning... Free surgery!

In all honesty, if the model 3 was readily available when I bought the 86, I probably would have bought one to have as a great LA daily driver. You can talk shit, but I would commute for free and be pretty stoked about it. However, people at work who reserved theirs last year still haven't gotten them...

I'd like to clarify that I'm not buying one.

That roadster down the line though... lol

Yeah it was pretty bad. That starter was only 4 years old or so. Yours was almost 4 times that old with no corossion...

It sounds a little different, not really sure how to describe it. Maybe a more high pitched sound from the starter, like it spins faster. I think it starts up a little faster too, I don't have to hold the key for as long as I used to.
