Hey thanks for explaining that to me. I was sitting here stewing on this. It's an election year...so kick their butts out of office. But now that you explained it so very well...that makes sense. Still very frustrating. I truly commend Ruger for bailing out of the state. All these taxes California imposes on y'all...and the state is broke and want the file bankruptcy??

That's like Detroit. Democratic have ran that city and state for over 50 years straight. Through all the big 3 automotive glory days...millions and billions of dollars in taxes from the car companies and then all the taxes collected from the employees...who were Union works...so all were making good money. Where did all that money go?? Who knows...but now the city is in total ruins. Looks like a third world country that's been at war! I kid you not. Huge commercial builds glass broken out. They have blocks of house...15 years ago were nice care for houses...that are now abandon. Like every 3 rd or 4th house has been torn down or burned out. No street lights. Dude you would think you're driving in Iraq....it made me sick to my stomach knowing this use to be one of the riches cities in the USA...and now they've filed for bankruptcy. The state told retired fireman and policeman their pension check are on hold because they have no money to pay them. When are people going to learn...socialism does not work!

Wow, I need to get off my soapbox..haha!!

California as a State is going down the same path as Detriot. Their retirement fund for State workers as well as Public Service(Like LEO, Firemen and Teachers) are completely underfunded. Many cities have stated they don't have the money to pay into these retirement funds, but California is building a multi billion dollar high speed train that goes between two cities no one goes too. The freeways are absolutely terrible, falling apart and no money to fix them.

I watched a great documentary on the Detroit Fire Department, they respond to more structure fires than LAFD does and they have the fraction of the population. They don't even have enough fire trucks for all the fire houses in the city. Detroit is a living example of happen to once great city.

Sweet ride...where is she now? Man, when I was in high school...these were all the rage!! Everybody wanted one of these. Yours looks like it's in really nice shape! Heck your top is still in great shape! Back window still rolls down. I don't see any rust at all. Can't believe you got rid of it. That's got to hurt...

Oops...that 3rd gen guy was probably kicking himself for that boo boo...haha! That's an exspensive mistake. Wondering if he called his insurance...haha!!

It has 220K miles and I was moving out of state so I sold her to my brother since he really wanted a 4WD truck. I bought a more reliable vehicle to drive around while at college. I regret every moment that I sold her. My brother kept her for a couple years, put a Total Choas long travel kit on her, but sold her when he moved to Texas.

I wish I knew where she was now. My brother had her for a couple years and modded her. It was my all time favorite vehicle, that 22RE was such a great little motor. It had no rust, but had a small bondo patch on the tailgate and a couple of dents in the rear bumper. The guy in 3rd Gen was a mechanic before so he bought a JDM motor and had it swapped in a couple days.

ETA: Mine was also the top of the line model. Only thing it didn't have the 22RE-T and moon roof. But it had the upgraded front seats, cruise control, power windows and mirrors.

That is correct. Detroit Fire has closed several fire station. No enough truck and equipment and not enough manpower either.

I tell you what...if you wanted to make some money in a long term investment. Go to Detroit and start buying up property. So much of it has been abandoned cause people don't want to pay property taxes. A lot of this is prime real estate. Some place you can buy an entire block in a housing developments. Someday...I don't know when...but it will all turn around. And who ever bought up that property will be doing very well for themselves...and here I am...flat broke! Just my luck...haha!!

My friend bought a house in Michigan for $30K, I was absolutely shocked! It is crazy how cheap it is out there, hopefully Detroit is able to turn it around and start to build up again. The city can't even afford to tear down on the abandoned buildings because there are so many of them.

I disapprove of this decision! Though a total pain in the ass with 261,000 miles, I'm not giving up on the Mudrunner. I'm gonna drag it with me where ever I go even if it kills it. And considering what happened when I tried bringing it to AZ that's the unfortunate but likely outcome...

I hope you never make a mistake like this again man. A beauty like that deserves a good home and once you let them go you never know what idiot will get it. Treat them like your children and never let them go! Cherish them forever

I completely agree. I have not found a 1st gen like mine since I have sold it. I am slight looking for one when I sell my Camry, who knows what I will find. It would be a great snow vehicle and I could still mod the 3rd Gen. I never had any problems with it the 3 years I had, but being young and dumb didn't want to risk it. I should have dragged it to AZ and kept it.

I think most of us on these forums have problems. I'm starting to think the Toyotas are therapy for the problems, rather than the problems themselves.

Yeah... I don't think you would've had the same issue I had dragging mine here haha. Oh well. The Mudrunner will return with a vengeance and kick AZ's ass!

That's what I'm thinking. I would love to find some big flat desert where I can open the throttle up and just max her out. I've always been a little more into prerunning than bouldering. Could explain why I don't mind using the 235's that much :D

There is plenty of that in AZ and there are plenty of rocks as well. You kind get a good bit of everything depending on where you go. What part of Phoenix do you hang out in?
