    why not take it to a machine shop to get it pressed in?

    That's my very last resort. Having a friend come by with some tools and if that doesn't work out then I'm going to have to do that.

    Air hammer? Good vibes go a long way.
    Also use a punch and tap down on the snap ring. Some cases they are indexed like piston rings and have a specific side that goes in. like a beveled edge...

    Got a buddy with an air hammer. Definitely tried the flat head/hammer on the snap ring. No go. Calmly and patiently waiting for a buddy while freezing them again. Can't wait till this is over.

    This was supposed to be installed by Tuesday so I could get in and mount my new tires. Who knew this would be a three day ordeal. Gotta love it.

    one more attempt with a 3 jaw puller underneath to press it in...we'll see if it works.

    That wouldn't work because there isn't any direct force on that part that would act as a clamp.

    I would like to do a full rebuild. Mostly just bearings and oil. The connector on the nose cone worries me. I don't get why people replace that.

    After the rebuild, yes.

    the "slapping it on" part sucks because of having to deal with belts. I have owned several 3.4s and always hated doing that the most.
