Cool, lucky me! Compared to where you guys live I'm in the boonies. I think those assholes in Washington DC call this area "fly over country". If I was stuck in S. CA, I can see a clutch getting old rather quickly as well as the need for knee replacement surgery. Drop my home co-ords into google & you can see where I'm at. Mr. Optimist on the other hand, IS in the boonies. :tumbleweed:

At my age, I guess I just like the extra challenge. Although, I didn't pull all the way up to the tire holes on TOTW. In an auto maybe, but not w/ a manual.

Both have their benefits but after many years of driving both stick and autos on and off road autos win for me.

After so many years driving a stick 30 miles down the 405 in traffic I still regularly keep my hand on the shifter even though I don't normally move it.

Strange thing to break. Glad you figured it out.

Good to know I thought it was 99

I get the traffic excuse. I did Black Bear, Imogene, and Engineer with a stick and I would not trade it for an auto.

On a side note, I miss riding sport bikes...

I swear I heard two sonic booms over the office yesterday. I think the airforce considers it uninhabited.

Hey, Salida has a Walmart too...

    Trade?

I am thinking of climbing Massive, or La Plata, or both this weekend.

I haven't heard from him either. I've tagged him in a few things but no response. What skids do you have? I'm full but gas tank.

    How much for sliders?

The south side of Imogene is super easy. There are 3 tricky obstacles on the north side, nice if you can get a spotter for those. I ended up nailing my hitch on one from my spotter giving me shitty advice. haha

There are a lot of cool places to camp in Imogene basin and Yankee Boy Basin. If you guys have time I would suggest hitting yankee boy basin. You can take the 4wd trail up pretty high. There is a trail to hike Sneffles(14er) and it is 1.2 miles from the parking lot. It is super steep and at the top you have to have some steel balls to jump up into this notch. Great views though.

The one way for black bear starts super far down. Park and walk from the one-way pull off. There are 3 "ledges". The first is the hardest of the three ledges. I ended up starting left and going center. The other two I went to the left side. The ground is soft but it will hold.

Engineer is "harder" than Cinnamon, but is way more scenic. There are a couple cool pull offs around there that are really cool. That waterfall on my FB is on the east side engineer and a neat hike. Both passes dump you out in Lake City. You can shoot up to Gunnison from there about 50 miles.

Stony is a little out of your way and that dumps you out near rio grande reservoir. There are a ton of spots to camp there. A few tricky spots between the pass and the reservoir.

Black Bear Cafe in Silverton makes a good BLT and Maggies in Ouray makes good burgers and 'slaw. IDK if you want some side shows near Silverton there is a gold mine tour ~$20 and a Gold Mill tour ~8 that are both really cool.

How many more days you out?

As a wise man once said... "why do they even make bolts anymore" -Freiburger. In the context of how awesome zip ties are.

Awesome thanks. Wasn't sure how much camping there was around Imogene, glad there is some good camping. We are heading back to BV Saturday.

The best camping is between treeline and the upper mine area. The other roads are pretty heavily trafficked.
    Here are some good spots:
    37.948157, -107.725054
    37.949461, -107.726794
    37.955727, -107.724448 Where I stayed

Were I to do it again I would camp in governors or sidney basin.

    Sounds like a good trip.

Gosh I've been so fuckin swamped with moving. Selling a house and moving SUCKS. I didn't realize how much money I've been having to spend so @RaleighTaco those sliders have to go elsewhere unfortunately. I would really...really love them right now too.
