Hey people, I'm lifting my self imposed ban and checking back in after having to quit for a bit....I decided not to sell the 4runner.

Mr.Opt thanks for wolf creek invite. I'll certainly get with you at least once this season.

I'm almost positive I have my oem arms in the shed and don't recall abnormal wear...130k miles

Thanks, it's not the arms I would need but new upper ball joints. Just figured I could use the eBay UCA's, rather than getting new ball joints I would replace eventually anyways.

Anyone interested in the supercharger on my 4runner? $1200 if I pull it off the truck and ship it or $1400 if I replace the nose cone bearings and needle bearings. It's a 1st gen with static tensioner.

I never respond to these posts but I'm curious on ideas for things to buy to the 4Runner at around $1000. I could get some Level 8 MK6s plus Tundra breaks for about that. Meeting with a local fabricator about getting a full length roof rack built tomorrow and the quote should be under that. I don't need the full length rack as I could make my Thule stuff work but the full length rack would make my like much easier.
Sort of at a dilemma because both of them would be some what functional

I'd use both a ton. The roof rack would get plenty of use with surfboards and camping stuff. The brakes would get used on a daily occasion and while my braking isn't horrible, it's not great either. Right now being fully loaded, I'm over 5000lbs and it'd be nice to have the extra security of nice brakes. I think I'm going to convert to discs in the rear this summer as well.

I want a SC for the novelty factor but quite honestly, I don't know enough about them to need it. I've never driven one with a SC so I don't know how big of a power gain it really is, so I don't know if it's worth it or not. I accept my 4Runner being slow and have no problem with this since it gets me to point A to B. That's not to say if I found a smoking deal, I wouldn't hop on one, but even at $1200, I have other priorities over that

The 3rd gen Brakes are terrible. A lot of people upgrade to the Tundra Brakes because the stock Brakes warp very easily.

Tundra brakes were one of my favorite upgrades. They don't seem like a big deal until you install them and realize how bad your old brakes were. Definitely recommend them. For me I've never had a use for a roof rack so I'll probably never get one unless I find a smoking deal.

Maybe a headlight retrofit (not sure if you have one already)? That was also one of my favorite and most useful mods.

I loved my sc and really changed how I felt about my 4runner and taking it on any trips. It is a costly mod though and hard to pull the trigger but I never regretted getting one.

TBU is on the list for this winter. My brakes feel so bad on the trails and are so warped from going down these hills. I would love an SC for the hills but with having to rebuild the front end that's on hold.

Yeah at my old place you would get off the exit on a downhill and my stock breaks would creak the whole time. Tundra brakes would be silent and smooth. I'll wait till I find a cheap set at the junkyard before I do it on my 99.

On Black Bear Pass my brakes were sounding really strained. They pulsate and make a lot of noises in town. I've never done a brake job so should be fun lol

That's how my tundras brakes feel right now. I really need to change them and add some stainless lines.

Brakes are easy, hardest part is bleeding them. Man I hate bleeding brakes.

Not looking forwarding to bleeding them. Not looking forward to doing the CV axles and LBJ's either.

Some tundra brakes will finally be finding their way onto my truck this winter. It's honestly about time

LBJ's are basic, just rent a puller from the parts store, they pop right off. CV's are always a pain, no way around that haha.

Seriously, I think your 5 speed is the only thing that has let you go so long.

Figure it will be easier to do CV's,TBU and LBJ's at once
