    ...too much shit to list.
Any of you 4th gen owners going for the incognito look and wanting a light bar, I highly recommend taking a look at Apex Fabworks. I got a set of their Stealth mounts to sit behind the factory lower grill and they are titties.
@MojaveMadman is your guy if you're in the market.

I ended up getting a 3rd Gen T4R finally. Its gonna be a slow build, but should be fun!

Nothing special, Ironman 4x4 2" in front, OME890's in the rear with Bilstein 5100's. I hope it settles a bit. I don't have the tow package on it or a spare under it right now so it has no weight in back.

So I was wanting to ask some questions regarding 4Runners if anyone would be willing to provide me with some enlightenment.

My main goal for my rig will be to get my, my girlfriend and 2 of our dogs to remote locations for camping, backpacking, and general adventuring. Mainly forest roads, maybe some light wheeling if I feel up to it. I'm in Idaho so I'll have a variety of trips to go on, as I plan on lots of trips all over the west from Moab to Yosemite to Death Valley to Glacier and to any other great non-national park areas.

My major requirements are that I want 4x4, 6 cyl engine, Manual Transmission and other than that I can do the rest myself with time and learning. I've never done a lot of mechanical work but want to learn and look forward to doing so.

With that, is there anything to consider between a 2nd and 3rd Gen in terms of reliability, parts availability etc? I already have a DD so this will be purely for adventures.

I recommend a 3rd over a 2nd due to age at this point (and more power), or a 4th, but you can't get them in a manual. A 2nd is likely going to require A LOT more work.

I'd suggest 3rd as well. A little newer and and more reliable engine. If you want manual you'll have to look for a 96-98 because I think they stopped manuals in 99. I could be wrong though since I have an auto haha

Thank you all. looks like I have a narrower search window now. And pardon my newbie question, but what is a locker? I'm entirely new to all this...

Rear differential locker, or sometimes referred to as elocker. When activated, it sends power to both the rear wheels instead of just one which is great for mud, snow occasionally, or if you wind up getting stuck somewhere. Definitely not needed for your use

That's right, thanks for correcting me. So 2000-2002 runners are worthless haha
