So now the question is... Tires or regear first?? I'm going to 4.56 gears

Tires I'm leaning heavily toward Nitto Ridge Grapplers in 305/70/17. Happy to copy @.45 JHP on everything.

And tons others. For this reason alone, I don't think I could do duratracs even though I think they're a good looking and well preforming tire

If you did tires first, how long till regear? If it's close, I say tires

It would be within 3 months of each other I'm hoping. In the worst case, 5 months.

I don't think a 4.56 regear on 285/70/17's that I have now would be awful, but I think I am leaning tires first. i need to run my finances a bit.

Being at 8k feet definitely kills the available power I have. I'm at 4.30's and I am screaming up mountain passes, definitely debating 4.88's to even out the playing field.

How much would you sell 5 Toyo R/Ts with 13k on them for?

At least your close to sea level so 35's shouldn't be too bad

4.56 and 315/70/17. Just do 35's. Cut once and be done

My only concern is heading west a few states but I shouldn't be over say 2,500 feet. I'm sure I would be starting to push it on 35s but 95% of my driving would be good.
That's what is really keeping me from 35s. I don't want to do a body lift, don't want to regear, and don't have the time to chop

I go tons for surf and camp trips, what do you want to know?
Most camp sites close in the winter except KOA sites which isn't much of camping. Plenty of beach access points, most of the driving on the beach is just leasurly, no dunes or anything like that to drive on. Frisco is my favorite little town down there, Buxton and Rodanthe is fun too. Nags Head, Corolla, Beaches, Waves, anywhere really North of Pea Island is pretty touristy

Seems like camping on the sand would be fun there. I was reading about the Portsmouth island beach camping.

I usually never make it that far south as surfable beach stops around Frisco. It's beautiful down there, I'd definitely recommend it. My personal favorite campsite down there is right by the Billy Mitchell Airport down there. There also looks to be a pretty cool one just north of the Oregon Inlet, though neither are on the beach. The one just north of the Oregon Inlet does have beach access and you can drive out on the point where the ocean meets the Inlet, definitely worth hanging out for the day.
The lighthouse in Buxton has the best views to offer as well. Beware of hurricanes though, Highway 12 will end in pieces and salt water will span across the whole island.

If you're ever up for a drive there, I'd love to head down there with you. I go whenever I have the opportunity and am always up for it. Depending on how far south you want to go, you can easily make it a day trip
