U-bolt flip needed to fit 10 shocks in stock location

    So I'm getting some fox 10" shocks for the rear of my truck, do u need to do a U-bolt flip to fit the shocks in ir can I get away with just sticking them in there? Thanks.

    As you can see, the shock mounts to the lower plate that the ubolts hold onto. So shock relocation is necessary. A few companies sell brackets that can be welded to the axle. So depending on how you set it up, your shock length will vary. :sly:

    Yeah its been a while since I have looked under a 1st gen, I thought this may be an issue but spoke too soon and was thinking 2 gen only.

    I just cycled it they are the same as stock laid back but angled in also. No binding at all.

    Its really not that bad. Just gotta think it through for your setup. Park it a full droop and full stuff and measure from the axle to somewhere up top where a new crossmember would be if you're going to relocate. If not measure from the stock mounting locations to get ext collapsed numbers and see how close the shock you want is. I'm running 12" travel 5125's.. and still have some tweaking to do.

    Did you guys notice any change in roll behavior after moving your shocks. I am particulary interested in cornering and off camber situations. I always run either an canopy or an RTT so my COG is a little higher than stock. I have read that moving the top of the shock in towards the centerline will reduce resistance to roll slightly. Curious is you have found this to be the case in your situations.

    Yeah I have heard that and was worried about it too but I dd my truck and am very comfortable in it. I mean it def has some roll to it vs. stock but I can't say how much are due to the just the shocks being tilted since I did struts, coils, 63's, boxed frame, and rear shocks all at once. Oh and I removed the sway bar at the same time as well.

    No was enough thread on the spring bolt to just drill a hole in the spacer and use a luck nut to hold it down. I did welded the bump stop to the spacer.

    I really like the idea of reusing the stock bumps. We'll see how long my spring bolts are.
