Are you getting the Toyota OEM carrier bearing? I know that you can get Dorman etc for much cheaper but I couldn't confirm the quality so I got the Toyota part. If I could have figured out what the Spicer part number was I would have went that route. I paid about $60 more for some piece of mind. Bought it online from Camelback Toyota for around $150 after the TW discount and got free shipping. I have it sitting in a box with the ujoints waiting for my frame replacement to get done.

OK, so not too sure its ujoints anymore or the center carrier bearing. After driving my truck a little today I am now able to produce the clunk/rattle it gives me. While driving at ~40-45 mph if I let off the gas and then lightly feather the gas pedal from a coast @ around 1500 rpms the truck makes a audible and physical clunk for a half a second (feels like i hit a speed bump.) Not able to replicate the clunk at any other speed or rpm range.
    Possible tranny issue???

My truck does a clunk as well its normal. Happens when you accelerate, start to coast when you let off the gas, then press on the gas to maintain speed there is always a little clunk with my 6spdMT

Everything can be fixed at a cost. Problem is I don't have a money tree on my property.

Take out the drive shaft and go through avery joint and bearing feeling for roughness to narrow it down. I think timken makes toyotas carrier bearing

I bought an Anchor carrier support bearing. Looked alright. Also found out the hard way why not to get Moog 270 U-joints. They just were too wide and made installing them a PITA and actually got severely damaged. Not to mention the needle zerk fitting is junk. Not only with the needle adapter bend while pumping grease, but I couldn't get any grease into them.

Figured it out. Wasn't a u joint or bearing. It was a cracked spark plug. Runs great again

I did everything as others have said to do them. I used a vice and two sockets. The problem with these was that one side would not seat into the center body all the way, it would just not go in any further. Thought if I put a washer wide as the bearing cup and thick enough to seat a snap ring that I could press in the other side. This was the result.

It looks like a needle bearing got loose preventing the cap from going all the way in. The end caps are cracked.

Yeah I thought that too so I pressed it back from the other side to see what was going on. First I used nothing to stop it from pushing out the other bearing cup back out (just the vice), then thought if I left snap ring in, it would allow pressed side to seat fully onto body, but all it did was squish the snap ring so tight you couldn't remove it, then I tried the washer idea and that happened. Inside of the bearing cups came pretty well greased and kept the needle bearings in there while pressing in the u-joint. I ordered 3 Spicer 5-1330-1X ujoints and plan to use a ball joint puller to remove and install u joints.

Does anyone happen to know the carrier bearing part number from spicer? About to replace all 3 u joints and figured might as well take care of that too.
