    BTW, thanks again, 4WD.

    This fixed my axle wrap, firmed the rear suspension back to where it was when it was new and also fixed the 60 mph drone problem. It should probably be in the owners manual to retorque every 30k.

    Took mine to the shop for other reasons. But I had them to check the ubolts. When I went to pick up the truck the tech told me that mine were so loose that he thought his torque wrench was broken. He couldn't believe it. He torqued it to 73#. 2 month old truck.

    I looked at the voting poll & gotta say, I'm not buying it , theres more than a few members that shouldn't have even voted because they've already had them off,changed springs or got their trucks after suspension change etc;

    Despite my initial skepticism I tightened mine up to 60 lbs today. I tend to be skeptical of internet ideas, but I think this was a good move. And yeah, it took a lot of turning to get a click. I'll probably end up at 80 lbs once my conservative self loosens up some more.

    With all due respect, I'm not an internet idea .. I work with leaf springs/axles/Ubolts all the time & almost all exclusively Tacomas, 2nd gen Tacomas....

    Sorry but I find your comment rather condescending

    I started this thread based on MY experience & my concerns for other members who may or may not have this issue, but none the less I'm glad you threw caution to the wind & took a chance on the internet idea provided......:facepalm:

    Has anyone heard anything from Toyota directly about this?

    I understand what the general consensus and those with mechanical knowledge say, but hearing from Toyota in writing would certainly make me feel better before tightening another 40#

    Well good luck with that, Chris4x4 addressed Toyota a couple times IIRC & never recieved any response....

    & quite honestly a note from Toyota would not sway me one bit from torquing them to at least 70 ft. lbs

    Stumbled upon this thread, so I decided to check mine...fortunately, my u-bolts still look like new after 7 years. No rust in NM...:)

    They were slightly less than 40 ft/lb. I proceeded to torque them up to 70 in 10 ft/lb increments.

    Thanks to OP for the thread...you never know what valuable information you are going to find on TW...
