eBay ECU had corrosion on the outside and on some of the terminals. I popped off the cover and the board was corroded in some spots. Sent it back today and ordered another from a different seller.

All works out anyway, since I'm out of town and won't be able to mess with it again until the weekend.

I bought a ECU this morning from a local salvage yard. $125. Hope to get it paired and UCON updated Thursday. Fingers crossed...

Take out the 4 Phillips head screws and pop off the cover. Look at the board to make sure nothing corroded.

The second ECU I got for $99 should be here Friday.

It's my understanding that the stock ecu is preferred over trd/bd calibration.

Stock is preferred from what gadget has told me. My believe for this is because they're so many different versions of the trd reflash plus the bullydog version. I think a stock ecu is easier to get right with a ucon because they have less variability

The TRD flash being an issue would have been a nice factoid to know about in advance. It wouldn't have prevented me from buying a UCON.

I could have had a stock ECU ready to go ahead of time. The UCON would've had the correct calibration from the beginning. I could've done the whole thing all at once and may not have even have needed a remote session.

I wish my crystal ball would've been operational. Maybe they never tested the UCON with my setup (2014/TRD).

Scott said the cam angles should be close to 0 degrees and my truck they're around 23 degrees, IIRC. The marks on the crank pulley and cam gears all line up. I thought maybe my chain was off somehow, but he said it's definitely TRD doing it to reduce power level.

The TRD reflash being an issue for the Ucon or APR x1 has not been an issue in the past. Curious if getting a stock ecu solves the problem

Yep, Installing stock ECU to may NOT really necessarily improve anything. Willing to be a guinea pig try to work with Gadget/Scott to come up with solution but there will be a point in time to just say to heck with it and live with TRD flash only.

I plan to install URD headers, y-pipe etc but not investing in any more parts unless the UCON is going to work right.

This is where I'm hoping the issue lies. But it may be not only the various TRD calibrations. The various non-supercharged calibrations may also be problematic.
