The cat back I agree but its not that the headers are restrictive its the design of the length of tubes and if the tubes are equal in length there is a lot more to the headers than just how easily they let exhaust gases out, there scavenging and a bunch of other variables.

The Ucon is only available for up to a 2008 correct, or is their website just not up to date.

Correct 09+ changed the ECU bus and then, I believe, required it to be licensed to get access to create any plug/pinout. Short story for 09+, no love.....

Also I emailed Gadget again to see what the gains are for the stage 1 and stage 2 tunes. Its taking forever, I would call him but I just got my wisdom teeth out and can't talk very well. Haha

I was asking Torspd about getting the UCON to work for 2009+ trucks.

Theoretically it can be done. However, I have yet to hear of anyone doing it. If it was straightforward I can almost assure you that there would have been a decent amount of these installed on 09+ trucks by now.

Yeah, can you imagine tapping/splicing the UCON in one wire at a time. I'd rather be a tester for the at-home self vasectomy kit... :D

How many people have you heard of who have installed a wire-in standalone EMS on an '09? I only know of one. Toon714. With his ProEFI Pro48.

The same thing would be done with the UCON. get the extension harness from AEM or URD. Plug one end into the UCON, cut the other end off, and with the pin-out sheets from both year models, splice it in. Sooooooo simple.

this is an awesome idea, but what about the traction control systems and the engine intervention it does. I wonder if that would still work, I suppose if the drive by wire system is a separate system from the EMS then that could intervene pre ucon control. I'm just talking in theory of course and don't actually know how those systems work.

Just leave alone the systems which aren't compatible, or that the OEM ecu can still control just fine.

ok I see what your saying so in theory traction control would still function normally

OP has 4cyl.....didn't see any info back about whether this would also work on 4cyl trucks.

I have an extra URD MAF with the harness already spliced into so that should be plugnplay whenever I get around to trying to tune mine. It'll be trial and error since Gadget says no maps for LCE header/Tooter IM spacer/Gibson catback/KVA intake combo. Will need 3rd bung welded into midpipe somewhere so I can rig up my Innovate LC-1 wb02 sensor/gauge to see what changes to mapping are doing. I like the self tuning concept of the UCON...........

I do have a 1st gen 4cyl but I wasn't talking about using it on my truck. I was talking about the 2nd gen v6 because I hope to get one in the not so distant future.
