Correct, they aren't even shipped yet due to the URD y-pipe not in stock. Supposed to be getting shipped sometime this week.

Cats or not, I don't think 10:1 at WOT is ideal.

pulled the trigger on the S/C today. Got the UCON EMS and the URD 05+ fuel pump upgrade (walbro 255 lph) to go with it.

now to select the gauges and wait for the return home to install. . . .

I have 4.56, URD TCAI, 35's (5 including the spare on the rear tire carrier), with armor and get about 14mpg. if that puts your mind at ease?????

I have understood that cats don't like unburned fuel = rich mixture = black smoke. Somebody said that the rich AFR is for protecting cats... Please, could someone explain?

    A bit? A lot! I'd like to see 12.0:1.

Lean fuel mixture makes for a hot exhaust gas temp

is the real concern with too rich of a mixture: detonation???

Too rich can cause cylinder wash. Too lean will cause detonation

I don't know, maybe. I have never experienced one with my FJ, despite of lean mixture with the previous not-so-optimal tunes. But the UCON should give more/better timing advance.

    What he said.

The cats have a happy medium of fuel mixtures they can work well in. Too lean or rich can cause them to melt, damage, or fail.

Running below 9's for to lengthy a period of time, will not only cause cylinder wash, but can also allow fuel past the rings and into the oil pan. Worst case scenario. Then it will dilute and break down the oil.
    Again, worst case scenario.

It mounts to your ecu with Velcro and a zip tie. The instructions have good directions and some pictures

Anyone with the UCON + an OBDII guage (ScanGuage, UltraGuage, BullyDog, etc..) having any issues with the data stream. Right now I just have the BullyDog that came with the S/C and it starts to display guage info then pauses and sometimes will continue and sometimes will say initializing connection. Not sure if its the BullyDog or something to do with the data stream from the UCON to the ECU.

I am inclined to lean toward the BullyDog since the ECU isn't throwing any CEL.

    I just ordered this:
    http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/products/dlg1.php

Replacing my Speedhut AFR gauges since they only go down to 10:1. Another benefit is two AFR gauges in one housing to save room. I wish they made another digital one that was fuel pressure and boost in the same housing. Then I could have only two gauges.

I have the UG and asked Gadget about the readings on that with the UCON installed. as far as intake temps, MPGs, distance, etc, those should not be affected. Stuff like AFR will most likely since the point of the UCON is to keep the stock ECU happy (or at least that's my understanding). Which is why I plan on getting the AFR gauge, but still use the UG for other parameter outside of AFR and boost.

That will "sometimes" happen when you have more than one OBD2 device at the same time. UCON counts as one. So UCON + Scan Gauge = 2.

In my case, I've had all at the same time... The UCON, the Maestro interface for my Pioneer radio, an UltraGauge, and my Autel Maxisys. The CAN BUS traffic gets a little crowded.
