The UCON also takes a little while to sync triggers. The slight delay isn't always a problem, as long as it is just because of synching.

My pre UCON starts approx 1.5 secs.
Post UCON starts approx 2 secs. Doesn't bother me at all but does take slightly longer to start.

I installed the URD fuel pump kit over the weekend. I'm a bit anal about the slow starting because I think all Toyotas start slow. (What can I say, I'm used to a Chevy) I haven't noticed any change since installing the new pump/filter.

Any issues or "tricks" to getting it to work and hooked up (I went with the Walbro 255 from URD)? That's first on my to-do list before the S/C install.. . .

The vent hose that has to be separated by the fender well was a huge PITA for me. I ended up having to make a tool to get it released. The rest was pretty straight forward. Oh, there is a tiny ring clip thing in one of the bags that is needed to hold the new sock onto the pump. I wasn't aware it fell out. Glad I found it on the floor!

    Same

Also, as far as I could tell on my truck... The fuel pump circuit doesn't seem to be energized with just the key on. It only starts after cranking, unless I was testing the wrong circuit and the pump is so quiet that its inaudible. I've been wrong before and I will be wrong again, though. :D

I think your right Login. I checked after I posted the key on check and I didn't hear the pump running with just key on.
Shouldn't the fuel pressure regulator hold fuel pressure after shutdown? If that's the case then maybe his fuel pressure regulator is bad or stuck open causing fp to bleed off when he shuts the engine down. Then every time he starts it, the fuel system has to build pressure which obviously takes some time.

Login, maybe you could test that theory since you have a fuel pressure gauge.

My gauge stays at its last energized position because it’s electric. So if it’s 43psi when I turn off the engine, it stays there until next key on. My pump and regulator are holding pressure while engine is off, so next key on the gauge stays at 43psi.

If pressure was bleeding off after shut down, then next key on it would show less. But thankfully I don’t have fuel pump/reg issues or long starts. :fingerscrossed:

Good info. I would say that the pressure regulator is the most likely problem.

That is the norm. Only during cranking.

I added the second resonator this afternoon. It helped a lot. It still has a nice growl to it, but it’s much more bearable. Freeway volume is much better. Before I kept it below 65 because it got pretty annoying at any speed higher than that. Now I can cruise at 85 at comfortable volume.

Not the best looking welds, but on par with my abilities.
