Used the breaker bar starter method for crank pulley bolt removal. Worked like a champ! Ended up impacting the install. Special tool bolt holes on s/c pulley were slightly off from stock pulley so wouldnt easily thread.

Yeah, should be an easy install once the UCON comes in.

I was emailing Gadget back and forth today to get them my info and he said he is trying to get them all out by early next week.

    So hopefully soon.

Thx for the update. I thought he might ship the initial batch of orders all at once to avoid people complaining when some but not all ship.

would the UCON offer significant gains over the MAF calibrator if used on a naturally aspirated engine?

Significant enough to justify the additional cost over the Maf Cal? I would personally say no. You could probably get another 15 horse out of it all while having the numbers be perfect (which is the kicker). If that is worth it to you is up to you though...

Thank you, I'm debating if I want to pony up now incase I decide to add a SC later. I already decided on power over suspension and that was a difficult decision to make too!

If you honestly think that you will spring for the S/C I say just pony up for it now. The money will already be spent either way and you get to reap the UCON benefits on the front end as well.

I'm sure I will, I just moved to the Tacoma from a Cummins with ~650 rwhp and 1100 ft/lbs...

In that case you will likely be disappointed even with the blower, but I can tell you from experience it sure gets waken up with one. With the UCON you can go down to some small pulleys and should be able to produce some real nice power though.

I'm having more fun with this truck being able to fit in a parking garage and not weighing as much as a house, so any little power gain I can squeeze out is like a cherry on top. Having a fast full size was fun but it was lifted 6" and on 37" MTs, not very practical.

Haha it doesn't take long to make a Tacoma impractical as well! Welcome to TW, ask questions, and mod on!

anyone gonna document the process of the cam gear swapping? I have no idea about this aspect and it is keeping me from leaning on the UCON EMS for the SC???

EDIT: Im talking with TRD Sparks and they are looking at another GB on Magnuson S/Cs if anyone is looking to get one.

It is documented, and you receive the instructions once you have the UCON.

Here is a brief run down. Pull the valve covers. Line up timing marks. Pull exhaust cam gears. Install new. Reassemble. Lol. But seriously.

Thanks, I'm not much of a mechanic so I'm terrified of pulling the valve cover without seeing what the process entails first.
