I noticed Haltech just came out with elite 2000. Curious the main differences between it and the 2500

2500 is more suited for these trucks' needs.

Plus between myself, and @Hacktacular , we can get you up and running with little down time.

Individual cylinder adjustments for fuel and ignition, long term learning for fuel, ignition, and a few other functions. Safety protocols for every sensor you have, which has varrying degrees of severity, followed by an OBD CEL #. Intake cam adjustability for more POWA.

    It works alright. ;)

Looking to get a better gauge to monitor my engine & also help me trouble shoot a misfire problem. Since the UCON install my BD has lots of trouble maintaining a connection & the numbers are often frozen. Will I have this issue with any of the OBD scanners? Has anyone used the Ultragauge or the Scangauge with the UCON?

Yes the UCON intermittently interrupts OBD2 communication. I’ve got 3 different tools and they all have intermittent connection interruptions.

I have the Scangauge. No problems with the UCON. Some values (eg. AFR and ignition timing) are not accurate with the UCON connected.

Like @FinnJ said, some of the values will be wrong becuase of the UCON sending unicorns and rainbows to the ECM.

The intermittent connectivity problems are more of a traffic issue. Too many PIDs being read at one time.

A generic reader like scan gauge or ultra gauge should work ok because they don’t read very many PIDs at once.

Will the scan gauge give you pending codes? How about misfire counts for each cylinder?

You can view pending codes and clear when they set. Will not detect misfires.

I have a scan gauge and purchased a scanner for all other needs. With the scanner I’m able to view live data stream and freeze frame data.

Pretty sure I am going to jump on the Ucon ship here very soon. With my AFR numbers (low 8's) I don't really see any other option. I want to keep it "simple" being in Idaho, I have no tuning help or references around me.

Considering I have yet to have anyone from Orange Virus Tuning contact me about a tune for my bosses 2017 Tacoma with 4 emails sent to him about it, I am not sure that is really a option. I know he is a busy guy, but I think I scared him when I mentioned that I work for a dealership or that he is just to busy to worry about the Tacoma when he has all the Lexus money being thrown at him. And Bully Dog is here in town, but I don't to hear stories about what they put my truck through when they had it to build the tune. We have supplied trucks for many of Bully Dog's products and lets just say that the stories are entertaining, but not if it is your vehicle. As one of them my bosses 2013 s/c Tundra that we got back with a blown motor and many stories of it doing 4 wheel drive burnouts. And the tune for the 2012-2015 s/c tacoma came off of a buddies truck that just never ran the same after words and traded that in. And there is Uni-Chip, but not sure that really is a option either as every time we have used them it has required lots and lots of attempts to get it right and he told me straight up that I would need a custom tune and need to come see him if I really wanted my truck to run right. But Gadget, he is one I do trust as I have done business with him for many many years.I actually met him through getting involved with another shop that was trying to take advantage of the both of us before URD ever existed. So the Ucon seems to really be my only choice, but a good one, just expensive at the moment.

I would go with OVTUNE if I can get a bench tune vs handheld.

Why my AFR is gone down to 9.5 (WOT) instead of 11.7 before? It’s way too rich now, I have noticed a power loss too. No OBD codes.

    Setup:
    • UCON
    • 2.85” pulley
    • Spec-U headers
    • DeatschWerks DW200 fuel pump

I imagine that you are not boost referencing the FPR, correct?

Power loss is directly related to that AFR.

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a few minutes?

    Yes, it’s stock, no referencing.
    Yes, I can feel it.
No. Maybe I could try. It was disconnected few weeks ago and the problem is developed after that.

Your ucon is stuck in engine guardian mode

What do you mean? It works ok, AFR close to 14.7 at constant speed, but when boosted it’s too rich.

Case in point. There is a mode the ucon kicks into when the fuel is not being delivered properly at boost or WOT. It’s call engine guardian or something like that. This mode is suppose to flood the injectors to protect the engine. It’s probably just the ucon acting up and should be a simple fix from Scott. When’s the last time you changed your fuel filter?
