    Cheapest and easiest,take the driveline to a driveline shop for a rebuild.

    Why not buy the correct part? They absolutely do differ. Just because they both fit doesn't make them the same. The 2WD basically has one end unshielded where the 4WD has both ends shielded- meaning a 2WD part will not last as long as a 4WD part on a 4WD. I can see if you're broken down and need to get your vehicle together and the correct part is unavailable, but otherwise buy the correct part and do it right the first time.

    Shielded from what? Meaning for offroading? I don't do any offroading, so maybe next time I'll get the other one.

    So what’s the reason we have two piece drive shafts and what are the pros and cons of a one piece?

    Can't like that more than once, but I'm very interested in a one piece one of these days. Tom Woods only makes up to a certain length, I think it's 75" . The DS on a DCLB, would be more like 85ish.

    I wonder if there are other companies that make one piece DS for our trucks, or just how strict Tom Woods is on their max length.
