Ultra-Gauge Help

I have an Ultra-Gauge; the kind that is just the ODBII dongle that connects to your smartphone by Bluetooth

Right after I got it, it worked great. Now all of a sudden, when I try to use it, the smartphone app tells me "No Vehicle". I figured the setting for my Tacoma must have somehow been deleted.

But, nowhere in the app can I find where you tell it what kind of vehicle you have. How do you "add" a vehicle?

 

I've never messed with the wireless UG, but have you tried resetting it to factory default and starting over?

OK. I did a complete and total factory reset. Now, I got it to connect. Sort of.

My phone says it is paired with the UltraGauge ODB II device, however when I open the UltraGauge app, the Bluetooth icon does not appear. Instead, I get this spinning arrow that looks like it is pointing to a line. Sort of like this, only spinning. Naturally I cannot find anything in the manual about this.

 

I don't have the UG Blue either, just two of the wired ones, but I've heard about that same issue a few times. I forget where I saw it though, either here, the T4R forum, or on UG's forum.

 

What I ended up doing was uninstalling the app on my phone, and unplugging the UG device from the ODB II port. I let it sit for an hour so that any remaining juice in the circuits would dissipate, re-installed the app then re-installed the OG device into the OBD port. Now it's working.

Go figure.

 

I had to unplug from the port once like you did. Just for like 10 seconds.
It was just confused.
Didn’t have to reload anything.
Been fine for over a year.

Me, I wanted to totally start from scratch. It may have been overkill, but I did get it to work so I'm happy with it.

 

It does suck power if you use it all the time and the phone gets kinda warm. lol.
So I just put it in front of the ac vent during use..
Make sure you close it out in the background when your done..

 

I have a Scosche mount for my phone right beside an AC vent and directly above the Cig-Lighter outlets; each equipped with a USB adapter and a 1-foot USB cable running between the two. What you describe is not a problem for me.
