    I recently purchased new 16 inch alloy wheels to replace the 16 inched steel wheels on my 2014 4x4 regular cab. I have the Autel TS501 TPMS tool and trying to read the recommended Huf Baolong Electronics 315MHz Universal Sensors. None of the sensors are transmitting. I even dropped the tires down to 3 PSI and tried everything I could think of.

    What Am I missing to get these sensors to transmit? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Steel tpms and alloy tpms are different as far as I know.

    Correct. I was told this sensor would work and multiple websites say it's a compatible sensor. My issue is I can't seen to get it to transmit. How do I activate it?

    Those sensors are “blank” they must be individually programmed prior to installation with a TPMS tool then once everything is assembled and aired up they’ll need to be programmed to the vehicle.... I’d recommend buying Oem sensors or atleast a name brand tpms sensor like dill or Schradar.

    Yep. The OP has option 2 below.

    Here's how it works. The sensors are 1 way communication. The truck listens to the information being sent to it by the sensors. The truck only listens to sensors it's been programmed to listen to. Let's call them Bob, Jake, Johnny, and Rafael. So, each sensor tells the truck what presure is in the tire. Let's say they're all at 32. When you push the button, the truck learns that 32 is normal pressure and keeps the light off. Now, 1 morning Johnny is on a bad hangover and tells the truck he's only at 25PSI. The truck turns on the light to let you know. You give Johnny some pepto bismal(air), the truck is happy and turns out the light. On your way to work, there's a Tacoma beside you at the light with a low tire. That sensor is named Brittany. Your trucks light doesn't come on because your truck doesn't listen to Brittany.

    So, when you get new sensors, there's 2 ways to make the truck happy.
    1. Pull new OEM or aftermarket OEMtype sensors off the shelf and program the truck to listen to them. Now the truck only listens to George, Paul, John, and Ringo. This programming can only be done by plugging into the truck OBD2 connector.

    2. There are aftermarket sensors that have no name. It's like adopting a puppy at the shelter. Your dog Bob crosses over the rainbow bridge. You go to the shelter and adopt a new puppy and name him Bob. (The tire shop programs the nameless sensor to say, "Hi, my name is Bob") Now your truck still listens to Bob. Your truck isn't smart enough to realize it's a different Bob. He thinks it's the same old Bob, and is content and patiently waiting for Bob to go on a drinking binge.

    I understand all above but it doesn't answer the question. Through additional research it appears that the Autel TS501 TPMS tool will ONLY activate the AUTEL sensors. The ATEQ VT36 tool will activate all known programmable sensors. I already know what sensor numbers are loaded in the ECU and what position. Fingers-crossed that the VT36 will activate the new sensors and I should be all set.

    Your use of the word "activate" seems to be misguided. Activation is different from programming.

    Per the ATEQ FAQ ; "A TPMS activation or trigger tool allows the user to “wake up” or activate the sensors while in “sleep mode” or while inactivate."

    Your Autel TS501 will activate (wake up) any brand of TPMS sensor, but will program only Autel TPMS programmable sensors.

    Here's an update. The ATEQ VT36 TPMS tool successfully activated all of the HUF Universal TPMS sensors. All sensors can now be queried and response properly. I now have to get the original tool back to program in the new Sensor IDs into the ECU. Everything should work correctly after that is accomplished.

    Why didn't you program the new sensors with the IDs that are already programmed into the truck?

    I do not have the old sensors to clone and the ATEQ VT36 TPMS tool doesn't that capability. The ATEQ VT56 does have that capability but it's 625 dollars more than the VT36.

    The ATEQ Quickset TPMS Reset Activation Tool is only 100 dollars and it can program the ECU with whatever numbers you'd like.

    Couldn’t you read the sensor IDs out of the truck and then program them into the new sensors?

    That would still require the $850 ATEQ VT56 tool.

    OK, so moral of the story, you’re better off buying 4 or 5 OEM sensors for ~$100 and pirated Techstream for ~$40.

    The HUF sensors are 29 dollars. These tools will be used on many other vehicles. I'm always good with purchasing tools.

    All is right in Tacoland. The TPMS light is extinguished. Activated the TPMS sensors with the ATEQ VT36 and then programmed the ECU with the ATEQ Quickset. The light went off before I even moved the truck.

    All stock, except for audio and convenience add-ons
    Some sensors need to be "woken up" by cycling the pressure up and down. I know you did something like that but try again going past the normal high pressure by about 5 psi then by lowering the pressure again down to about 20 psi. Do this quickly.
