I like your idea for moving the solenoid up away from the winch. Had to change mine on my undercover hidden winch and it was a pain because had to take everything apart to get to it.

My next project is to add a wireless remote instead of using the cable remote that comes with it.

I have the warn wireless controller.
    Super handy.
The receiver plugs in right where the regular one does.

I got mine from Summit Racing. There's one for ATV winches and one for truck winches. make sure you get the right one.

Also, the remote works much farther if your solenoid is visible from where you're standing. If it's hidden inside the engine bay the functional distance decreases, from what I've heard. My winch is on a removable mount, so I don't have experience with that issue.

Thanks for all the additional info added to this thread... It helps to keep adding new ideas and methods of tweaking the mod.

Do you by any chance have a pic of how much you had to cut off of the back of the bumper? I'm about to measure (with template) and start cutting.

Sorry just seeing this.. I didn't take a photo of the actual bumper after trimming, but hopefully this will give you an idea of how much to trim (there was approx 1.4" to the front edge of the black insert just before the silver plastic of the bumper transition):

And another where I trimmed for the winch handle if you use the HFT Badlands winch like I did:

    Hope that helps a little..
