Do these work on the driver side vent by door? I only see them used on the inner 2 vents. Also, what are the best mounts for a ham radio controller head? Got any pics to share?

You can mount it on any of the vents. I just think most people put it on the vent to the right of the steering wheel because they are right handed. I’ve been really happy with mine so far. It’s a very solid mount.

+1 they work on any of the four vents. I had considered putting it on the door vent, but the arm got in the way of my turn signal. I guess I could just stop using the turn signal as it's apparently optional for half the driving populace anyway.

Anyone have experience running a 8-9 inch+ tablet on one of the big squeeze mounts?

Also, Anyone get the new mount design they have out? Its suppose to let you have range of motion with the vent at least up and down from what i can tell from the picture.

I have the newest mount and you can move it up and down but you can’t twist it. It doesn’t close all the way but it does open all the way.

The entire kit is $139.00 from Hondo.

The mount for the unholey thingy is really just a mount for Ram Balls. If you buy the entire $139 kit, it comes with the vent mount, two ram balls, an arm, and the phone grip.

If you want maximum flexibility, just get the vent mount for $39 and then go to ramball.com and buy the other components separately. I bought the $139 kit and ended up buying a 1" Ram Arm as the included one was a bit too long for my liking. The ramball site has a ton of radio controller mounts that would fit your needs.

I do. I put in on the inner passenger side vent facing the driver. Super solid, and great quality. No vibrations. The only issue at all is it rattles off road, when empty, if you don’t tighten it up on itself, and you have to rotate the mount 90 degrees on the ramball when you switch from tablet to a smaller I-phone, which I do on occasion. Would buy the exact set up again. Really nice.

Thanks for the heads up.. I too was thinking the arm included in the kit was longer than I liked - just ordered the unholey mount. Then I picked up the ram ball mounts, ram arm, and ram universal x-grip (all from Amazon) making for a grand total of $87.

I ended up getting an X-Grip too, mostly out of morbid curiosity and incapacity to not spend money. I found it pretty dinky to be honest, and have come to really like the Hondo grip. The X-Grip is definitely easier to use if you have different-sized phones that you want to use on the same mount.

9.7" 2018 iPad but not in the big squeeze. RAM has a dedicated holder the iPad clips into that was cheaper for me and I used one of their octagon swivel mounts so it stays super close to the dash and doesn't bounce at all until I hit the dirt.

I use mine of the left side with a ram magnet base as the phone mount.

Same here but on the right vent - super clean setup. The phone does bounce off the magnet on rougher dirt roads, though.
