    starting to plan a trip over to Crystal City for Labor day weekend....

    maybe head out friday night after work up to buena vista...then head up and over the mtns and work our way to the powerhouse and back to denver by monday night

    maybe (cottonwood pass or tincup)>(taylor pass>pearl pass or italian creek>cement creek)>paradise divide>schofield>crystal city>lead king>(independence pass or annie basin>taylor pass>cottonwood pass)

    isnt scholfield one way down into crested butte coming from the crystal city side? i thought it was but could be mistaken, also when you hit crystal city you would have past the entrance to go up lead king basin and out of town, you would bypass the town of crystal and the powerhouse if you go up and out lead king basin. You can get to the powerhouse in about 5 minutes past the lead king basin entrance though. :)

    i would go past lead king to the powerhouse then come back to complete lead king

    could always do it in reverse...

    I've had a few friends run it recently so the trail itself is open, but we believe the East side gate is only open on weekends. So just in case the gate is not unlocked, we can do the gultches (Hackett, Longwater, Metberry) instead.

    But I'm fairly certain we should be good to go for Eagle Rock.

    Yeah it's been a long time since I've run it. My last run it was covered in snow and we had to winch up that rocky hill, but then ended up having to turn around shortly after because a bronco somehow got sideways in the trail wedged in some trees and blocked it. :laugh:
