UPDATE 12/28/2018: Just washed wheels again and I can report that they are still looking great. I believe this is the 5th wash since making this post,

    Hi all,

I have had my TRD wheels for about a month. They have been coated twice with Dr Beasley's Matte Coat and 2 coats of Dr Beasleys Matte Seal.
So far, the wheels are a snap to clean and so long as I get them rinsed thoroughly with deionized water and dry them in the shade, they look awesome.

I am very pleased with the Dr Beasleys products so far. I will try to remember to update this post periodically with the state of the wheels.
Pics are of front and back wheels.20181102_145537.jpg 20181102_145526.jpg

Can you not fit 265-70-17's on those rims?

I am going to use the stock tires until they wear out, then get beefier tires. The rims set me back too much at once to do both...

No caps is temporary. They fell off shortly after install of the rims or were left off during install.

I ordered these wheels and they should be here tomorrow. I, too, am going to use the stock tires until they run down. Have you had any issues with your current setup?

Congrats on the new wheels. They are going to look awesome.
No, I have had zero issues with setup. My Tacoma has stock suspension so the tires still fit fine. The wheels are 1/2 inch wider than stock but the tires do not looked stretched at all.
Don't forget to do research on matte coatings. I recommend putting whatever product you choose on the wheels before they go on the truck so it will be easier to apply to the barrel etc.

Thank you. I have the stock suspension too so sounds like all will be well. Now I have homework to do on the matte coatings. Thanks again!

So I want to have the tires mounted onto the rims today at Costco and they said the stock tires wouldn't fit on these rims. They say the minimum rim width would be 7.5 in. Where did you have your tires mounted on to your rims?

The Toyota dealer put them on for me.

Those wheels have a history with me. The first time I tried to purchase them at a dealership was when the truck was a week old (2016), the parts guy said the stock tires wouldn't fit. 2 years later I went to a different dealership to get my oil changed etc. During that 2 years I had seen multiple examples of Tacomas with these wheels. On a lark I went to the parts guy during my service and asked him what was up. He said he had no idea why the other dealership said they would fit. He said it would be no problem to throw my stock tires on them and run them safely. I dropped the money on the counter and have been ecstatic since. Sometimes its about who you ask...

That's great, but what are you using on your tires? They look a little faded.

Thanks again for your help. I appreciate your response on the other thread too. Your wheels look amazing. Some of the other posts had me thinking I may need new tires. I really didn't want to go for new tires at this time. I'm going to have find a local shop to mount them.

I haven't put anything on my tires in a while. I was using tire shine spray but stopped using it because I didn't want to take any chances of overspray on the matte finish wheels. I am currently researching new chemicals to apply with a sponge. .

I have washed these wheels at least 6 times since I bought them. There are 3 coats of Dr. Beasley's Matte Coat and 3 coats of Matte Seal. I am having a hard time liking the Dr. Beasley's Matte Seal product for several reasons. It is a very thin formula like Aerospace 303. If you try to spray it on the wheels it goes everywhere and is very hard to get out of hard to reach places. Because it is a milky white liquid it is not as though you you can just let those areas dry and all is well. You really have to be sure to dry the liquid completely with a micro fiber cloth. Instead I spray it on a micro fiber covered sponge and apply to wheel. Even with this method the liquid is just not thick enough to keep from running down the wheel etc. Once applied it must be dried off like previously mentioned. This can be a chore with these wheels and I am having less than perfect results. It seems to dry unevenly and leave splotches. These wheels are hyper sensitive to coatings and unless applied perfectly can show imperfections.

The Matte Wheel Coating seems to be working great. It is a thin formula but turns thick when it comes into contact with water. It is easier to control on the surface of the wheel and generally seems to be easier to level out and dry.

Hope this is helpful to anyone thinking about these wheels or the Dr. Beasley's products._DSC7930.jpg _DSC7932.jpg

I applied the matte wheel seal to these same wheels on Friday prior to mounting them. Applying it to bare rims (i.e. no tires mounted) definitely made it easier and allowed for more coverage. That being said, I applied per Dr. Beasley's video. That is spraying the product directly on the wheels and letting it sit for 5 - 7 minutes. The product was relatively easy to remove with the difficulty being the smaller holes in the rim and bezel of the center cap. (As pointed out above) Ultimately the product applied well and left the wheel in a matte/satin state afterwards. Seems to address the issues others have cited when applying a protection product to matte/satin finishes. Next time I'm going to try applying with an applicator.

I haven't washed or driven through any weather yet. Interested to see how it holds up over time. I've had great results with Sonax Rim Shield on other wheels, but avoided here due to concerns about altering the finish of the wheel.
