Upgrade radio?

I wanted to know if it's possible to upgrade the radio in my 2017 SR to a unit that also has GPS and satellite radio?

Would any additional equipment be needed besides an upgraded Toyota radio to make this possible?

Also, would it be better to upgrade to a non-Toyota radio instead? Anyone have any suggestions?

I just put in a pioneer avh2330 nex... awsome unit that has apple car play. I also have a SR.

 

I stumbled across this site a while back. They seem to have it figuared out but aftermarket would be cheaper.

Any pics of install and functionality? All your steering controls still work? Was it a direct fit? Sorry for all the questions, just in the same boat. Thanks!

 

Ill take pics when i get home. Go to crutchfield and put a radio in your cart it will list everything you will need.... i paid a local shop to install for 120 and i actually gained some functionality. Tire pressure etc is now displayed on screen

If you want to stay stock -- there are 4 different radios: 1. the one you have,. 2. the one that has "scout nav" capabilities with XM (I had this one originally) , 3. the "premium with built in Nav and 7" screen (the one I moved to ) , and 4. the "JBL" 7" screen with built in nav and I think it has better speakers.
I swapped my number 2 for the number 3 7", the good thing was the wiring was ALL exactly alike --BUT I have a SR5--not sure on your SR?
The bad thing was that I had to come up with 7" center dash panel opening. This part is expensive, and they are hard to find from salvage people.
With all that in mind, you may want to look at what a great member here did to his Off road -he goes by" RNocera". He did a aftermarket redo, and it looks sweet. BTW -- I bought his used headunit to do my upgrade. Look at his posts and you will find what he did.

Pioneer pics. Not sure why anyone would want oem. Aftermarket in my opinion make far superior head unit.... apple car play is awsome. My sr now has navigation!!!
