upgrading rear suspension on an x-runner

i'm headed up to laguna seca next weekend, and i'm getting nervous about hauling 2 bikes in the x-runner...anyone have any suggestions about upgrading the rear suspension so it won't bottom out, while retaining the lowered'ness (nice word eh )

you have to make sure the bed is able to carry such weight. 'cuz the sport can only handle a certain amount of weight i think one of our taco memebers had that issue when he hauled, i think it was an ATV. check out one of our forums about that.

 

yeah, i believe the max is 950 in the bed...which i will be under...but i'll probably still be bottoming out the suspension.

 

I made my first road trip last weekend with my 01' CBR1100XX in the back of the XR and it was just fine. Actually, the ride quality overall was pretty comfy and the ass end didn't drop down as much as I was expecting it to. Being that the bike is 530lbs wet and I had another 75lbs of crap back there as well.

 

If you swap out the rear leafs for the Sittin Sic drop leafs, you'll lower the rear, while upping the load capacity.

Although air springs help out immensly with bottoming out, you cannot overload the vehicles' load capacity. Springs, tires, bed and axle all play a part in the load capacity and if you compramise one of these you are asking for failure of one kind or the other.I just installed them on my Tacoma and they do take a little over an hour to install and with no drilling other then the air inlet valves. I was suprised that even with no load and 50 lbs,( every lb of air equals 50 lbs increase in load capacity), of air in them the ride wasn't all that choppy or rough.
