im looking at buying the Icon Billet Upper Control Arm. I was wondering if these are the best UCA out there. Are there better ones if so what are they.

Also has anyone installed these before

The icons are great, but I just couldn't justify the cost, I went with the desert racing ucas from DSM. I'm 100% happy with them and I got them for roughly half the price of the icons.

So is there any real advantage to the icon billet ones.

Also someone did I write up on an install and he had to hack and cut the crap out of his sheet metal to get them in?

    Baller status.

You have to move the sheetmetal out of the way to get the UCA mounting bolt out on each side. The suspension is assembled at the factory before the body is dropped onto the frame.

Or cut the bolt and replace it backwards

I just put them on 2 weeks ago . But I'm sure I'll be replacing the uniball . I put the tri flow lube on which is like a silicone "almost" to keep most of the salt out but we will see what happens .

not saying it won't...actually saying that's a good idea...dk what a new bolt would cost though...if it's not too much it'll save some pain of getting that bolt out and bending the sheet metal

IIRC they are about $15 each at the dealership , that being said I bent the sheet metal myself

Buddy of mine did exactly that. His truck is pristine and he didn't want to touch the sheetmetal.

Worked like a champ and the cost of the bolts was worth it to him.

I did total chaos, clock had 2k on her. You could cut the sheet metal, bend it back, then use a bfh to beat it where it belongs. When you get done you can't tell unless you get real close.

Wow design flaw if you actually have to cut and bend the metal. Thats just stupid. I will be cutting them and buying new bolts. Anybody have the part number on them? And is the right and left the same part number.

Thats just dumb that you have t do that.
