Damn I didn't even think of siliconing the seam. Smart and efficient. Seeing as how I have leftover from the install, seems a smart choice. And with nothing on the rack, I can finally say I have something fixed to it. Bought a rack to attach lights that need a rack to be attached to. Tacoma logic. :anonymous:

Looks like I'm going to be shooting for the same exact setup you've got here! Got my lights and pod housings ordered; just need to buy the harness for the bed light tap and should be good to go!

One thing I really appreciate about this rack is the lights sitting below the load bars and being out of the way. I haven't really looked at any other racks this closely, but always assumed the back of the lights would somehow interfere with whats up top and might would lose a fraction of space.

Anyone in here DIY your own grab handles for your rack? I'm sure the design/quality/manufacturing/etc warrants the price of the upTOP handles, but I personally don't want to spend it lol. That, and I'll already be planning to DIY some handles on my camper shell rack that I made myself, so might as well try a solution that'll work for both racks. Thinking something like the typical paracord grab handles since its something I'd have the means to do by myself, but not sure how they'd hold up to extreme heat/sun and rain over time. Guess it wouldn't cost nearly anything to make new ones and replace every couple years if needed though. Would love to see what you've done with yours!

Hey uptop, I've got a question. Looking into snowboard racks, a lot of them have this design that seems like it works better with thinner cross bars. Im curious if yours were designed with accessories like that in mind. Is your rack and cross bars designed to accommodate most brackets for bike racks, ski and snowboard racks, etc...?

Can you or has anyone mounted their RTT to a Bravo rack without the risers? I would want to keep our tent as low as possible.

we have a bed rack now, but I’m thinking I want to get a softopper and try a Bravo tent mount.

I could go out and try it, but my 120 pound wife is my only helper. I’m thinking maybe I can remove the front bar, attach to tent and bolt in place and catch the rear bar with a speed ratchet….hmm

    A7708DB9-DB47-43F6-AB9F-448616FBD56E.jpg

Edit- just looked. Pretty obvious way may be to remove the farring, speed ratchet tent, bolt farring back.

I'm not trying to persuade one way or the other.. however I would not attach a rtt on my roof rack.. if you were thinking about a softopper I would sell existing rack and replace with a rack over softopper and install rooftop tent on the bed rack.. it would be less maneuvering and less to damage if something were to shift as well as the roof rack may hold more weight than the actual cab roof can. It's just my opinion .. just something I would think about long term

I'd like to keep the RTT below the cab, or as even as possible. Oviously for less wind drag, but better off balance when you're off camber.

Well, never heard back from anyone, but snagged some stainless M8 eye bolts/locknuts and made some paracord grab handles for the rack. Guess we'll see how long they last!

I'm going to do this too. I found all the hardware on Amazon for about 60 bucks, I've already got loads of paracord. Show us what you did?

Just followed one of the many YouTube videos of “diy paracord grab handles” honestly. I did exactly this:
    https://youtu.be/pYDmFOHR_B0
The first solid strand, I’d say start with a 13.5” piece if you want the handles really tight and not flapping around, and a 14” piece would probably be about perfect for a more relaxed saggy handle. I chose 13” to start with and it was just about too tight. Couldn’t stretch it far enough to get the eye bolts through the holes, and ended up snapping a bolt trying to force it on one of the handles.

Has anyone mounted a folding utility table under their upTOP TRUSS bed rack, if so how? I found this but I don't think it is compatible with the upTOP TRUSS

    Just getting started.
That's interesting, but I'm not sure it's worth $200. I think it would be easy to fabricate something like that with a pair of aluminum c channels, a miter saw, a drill, and some bolts to attach it to the load bars and perhaps a couple to use as pins to keep the table from flying out of the channels.
