I have a question about the URD o2 sim and emissons. I want to buy a set of doug thorley long tubes with either the URD competition y pipe or the tacoma pipe bomb y pipe. I know the DTLT headers will eliminate my front two cats, and both the competition y pipe and pipe bomb y pipe will eliminate the last two. In Maryland the emissions test involves a gas cap test and hooking the vehicle up to a computer to check for any problems. My question is will the URD o2 sim allow me to pass Maryland emissions? If not what can i do to pass emissions and run the set up i want to? thanks in advance.

The O2 simulator just tells the computer everything is clean and fine with the exhaust. If MD does any sort of Carbon Monoxide sniffing, you'll most definitely fail.

Do they require the emissions system be complete?

what they dont know wont hurt me. the only emissions test that worries me is the computer test. I need to find some way to fool there emissons diagonostic. And my question is will the URD o2 sim do that for me even when im running 0 cats

Chances are the will put the truck on a lift and inspect it. In PA they pull wheels to inspect a back and a front brake. They also check for exhaust leaks. I imagine they would do the same in MD. And if they see you don't have a CAT they might fail it.

I think your getting inspection and emissions mixed up. Inspection is were a inspector looks over every part of your vehicle and determines if it meets your states requirments to be on the road. Emissions in MD just checks your vehicles computer to see if your throwing any codes. Anyways the emissions people get alot of cars around emissions time and just speed threw each car. And 9/10 those guys dont even know what to look for.

They do them both at the same time here. I see your point though. Yes the O2 sim tricks the ECU with regards to the CAT. But I think you will need a sim for each O2 sensor.

You just need the Dual Channel one from URD. Just one of those will do the trick.
