    07 taco w/ JBL

first, the pa12 toy just shuts off every 1/2 hour or so. I can reset it by uplugging the unit from the head or restarting the truck. I have read that this is "normal" for thier units.

Second, the sub sounds very muddles when I use the ipod. It almost sounds blown. It sounds great with disks or radio although I dont have the same tune on both disk and Ipod to check that it is song specific. I thought it might be the 128 bit rate but I use the ipod in my other cars with no issue. Another guy said its the ipod interface. If I switch to the head phone/rca set up it will sound much better.

Anyone have any input or similar experience?

suggestion: check the volume level on the iPod and the EQ settings. I have to disable the EQ on my iPod to use it in my truck (too much power into the deck input). I don't use it anyway, but it sounded VERY bad when I tried to turn it on.

    Cheers!

that was my first thought as well but the volume is dissabled on the ipod when using the pa12 in direct mode. The eq is turned to normal. I turned the heads bass way down and then tried other eq settings but it didnt really help.

Lemmie see if there is a stand alone bass setting on it....like bass boost or something. This is a first gen 10 gig'er so I havent been through all the screen to see.

No luck on any eq changes. I think it might be poor sound quality on certain songs on my ipod. Everything i have is 128 or 192 but they could still be poor compressions or recordings on certain songs I guess. Its the only thing I can point to that would make some songs sound really bad and others sound pretty good.

I am really sorry to hear that. It's a long shot, but can you get any help from USA-Spec?

problem fixed. The bass was being distorted on certain songs that had higher recorded levels. I turned it to bass reduction and all is good now. Alternatively, I could use a program to equalize all my digital music to the same levels so the peaks wouldnt peg on an eq. Such is life on limewire.
