Hey Ive been reading these threads for a few weeks now and noticed some of you have used the USAA pricing. I was just wondering how it worked out for you, and if the dealers tried adding on any additional fees? For my zip code a TRD 4x4 came out to be around $27,800. Ive called a few dealers to check their inventory and they say the best they can do is about $29,500 and they say well we have a 700 doc fee and bla bla. Just wondering what everyone else's experience was.

    Thanks

I was going to go that route, but got a sweet deal on a 2007, so I passed up on the USAA pricing. In reading it, the dealer has to honor the pricing for that truck with those features. So if they do not have that exact truck in stock they have haggle room. I would call around find the truck you want with all their listed features and input those into the USAA pricing configuration. That way you have control of the situation

Only issue I had was the dealer I finally chose didn't participate but the sales manager said he would honor if I could login to website from dealership.
I brought my laptop in and logged into site with them present. The salesman resisted $200-$400 dollar diff from what we previously spoke of and what USAA currently had updated to(meaning they updated the pricing but was still cheaper from what we agreed on).

So, I told sales manager if he could get me there we would have a deal. He did. I tried two other dealers but they could never get to what was supposed to be guaranteed pricing. So I chose a dealer that didn't participate but they still met it to get the sale.

Also try truecars.com, cars.com, edmunds.com, and carsdirect.com for all sorts of comparison to help me make my decision or firm pricing I desired.

My buddy just picked up an XTERRA OFF ROAD w/ USAA pricing. The dealer was not a USAA participant but they honored the price. All depends on dealer and how much you stand your ground.

I used the USAA pricing for my truck a few weeks ago. The DC Sport was invoiced for 27K, I got him down to 26k, and then asked him to go further and he said no. I left the dealership, and researched it on USAA, which quoted a great deal being 25,600k. I called the sales guy, told him about that USAA quoted a dealer 30 miles south could do it for 25,600 and told him I'd sign for 25,600 and he called me back and agreed. So in my case it worked very good. That certain dealer wasn't apart of the USAA car buyers program but honored the price. It differently doesn't hurt to try it out!

Yeah I travel from PA to ATL a lot and noticed the ATL price is way better. I got quoted a 4x4 DC TRD Sport for 27.5. Up in PA they wont come close. So im shopping the price around to see who will use it. I never bought a car like this before, as long as you know what you want its not bad.

depends... ask for the invoice. how much over is their pricing? buying a car for just a bit over thier is extremely quick and easy if you know how to do it. even going this route is more work...

Dealing with this right now - looking to buy a 2010 dc longebed TRD sport. USAA dealer agreed to 500 under invoice. Unfortunately, they are 4 hrs away. My local guy is trying to get close but could not believe a dealer would go $500 under invoice for that trk. To be continued...

I used USAA and MSRP was somewhere in the 35,500 range, and I got it from Team Toyota in ATL for 27,600. When I ordered in Apr of 2009 there was a 1,500 discount from Toyota USA and the difference came from what the dealer wanted for handling.
Since it was a special order I was able to pick it up from Toyota Southeast Distributors in Commerce, GA so I avoided having to go to ATL for delivery at the dealership.
The price I paid was significantly less than invoice.
    Yeah, I'm a happy camper.:D

I used USAA pricing and had no issues. I was just getting ready to PCS back from Korea, so I built the truck and the dealer contacted me and had it ready for me when I got back to the states. Just walked in signed the paper work and drove home. Took about 30 mins. total. MSRP was almost $32,000a and I paid just under $28,000. Good deal I think. I'll most likely be using it again!

    Destination fee is fixed
doc fees vary but around $300
    reg fees and taxes vary
dealer hold back is around $800

edmunds.com will give you some good info

use dealerrater.com submit a quote request and let the whores come to you, they will trust me. Set up a net email account for this because they won't stop bothering you.

USAA is a great place to start. Your will get a call from their dealers if you want. Print it out and use it to shop around. I played to two dealers listed against each other and was happy with the price I got. It was actually less than listed on the USAA site.

that's because they don't go under invoice. i just checked the usaa pricing - their 'invoice' price isn't even close... it's much higher than the actual dealer invoice - at least for the tacoma i looked up. a dealer is generally not going to sell it for a loss - even with thier holdback as their holdback isn't guarenteed (things go against it).

Careful with that. Because what happens is somebody has to drive the car from another location. Plus the dealers with USAA for some reason they don't have the same options or price list for those options(or what you're wanting on it). Use what USAA is giving you for bargaining. Walk into dealer and say this is what I can get it from xyz dealer. They want your business they'll get it for that price from them. Good luck.

Hello all. Just a little inside track since I am a USAA employee. The price on our website is just a pre-negotiated price with participating dealers, which is sometimes cheaper. I always advise our members to use that price as a starting point. Also check about financing, it has saved some peeps some cash.
