has anyone tried the USB 2.0 external hard drives with the USB slot? You can buy one of the 1tb external hard drives at Walmart for $60. I have a lot of music and on lol no trips would love be the large catalog.

i don't think the stock deck will recognize a drive that large. i've used 16GB sticks successfully

also, those drives require more power as they are platters vs flash drives.

one more thing....music off youtube? the deck can read 320kbps MP3's, why would you suffer such low quality audio?

I've used my 160gb iPod but was hoping to get a bigger drive that will hold a lot of music.

    Apparently it has been done:

    https://priuschat.com/threads/hard-...poor-design-toyota-please-fix-its-easy.110108

However, at least with the 2015's, the limiting factor of Entune was 9999 files. Don't know if that limit was extended for 2017, but should be mentioned in the owner's manual.

EDIT: Per the 2017 Owners Manual page 314:

Items related to standards and limitations are as follows:
    • Maximum directory hierarchy: 8 levels
    • Maximum number of folders in a device: 3000 (including the root)
    • Maximum number of files in a device: 9999
    • Maximum number of files per folder: 255

one of the things I miss in my Jeep was the internal hard drive. And the Alpine stereo with sub. For a factory radio, it sounded pretty good and had a 28 gig internal HD. Held all my music and some videos. Toyota really cheated out on the stereo on a 40K truck.

I use a SanDisk Fit and it works awesome for me. Not sure on the size, but I have a couple of hundred CDs on it with plenty of room to spare.
