I am having the same issue with USB, and I've done some trouble shooting. I have a '16 Taco TRD Sport with the Entune Premium system. My wife has a '17 Lexus RX350. I have a new Samsung S8 and my wife has a Samsung S7. Both phones running the latest Android versions released by Samsung. All of these were used to test.

When connecting my S8 to the Taco on bluetooth, no problem. When connecting via the new USB cable, the USB source button is greyed out and cannot be selected. Next I connected the AUX port to the phone and it played. Next tried the same with wife's S7, same results. I saw there was a audio player software update, and so I tried to load it via a USB stick. It worked and updated. Tried to listed to music through a USB stick, and it worked without issue.

Did all the same tests with exception of audio update on my wife's Lexus and has exactly the same issues.

There appears to be a compatibility issue between Toyota Motor Corp Entune and Enform systems and Samsung smart phones.

Anyone from Toyota out there with an answer?

I work at the dealer and Toyota can't keep up with all the new phones coming out. I'm told they are gonna be working on that but no time line. Most of the new iPhones do the same thing.

I'm not really convinced with this, it either works all the time or it doesn't if its a compability thing.

Mine used to work all the time, then sunddenly started having issues. I read somewhere than someone replaced the USB port in the lower dash and it fixed it.

I went ahead and purchased a usb adapter cable for Toyota OEM radio, that would replaced the OEM usb port, as I'm curious if the issue is with the radio itself or the port. Cable was cheap so its worth the try.

Any update on this? I noticed something funky with my USB port today. The port charges my wifes S6 just fine, it charges a external battery pack, and a set of bluetooth headphones. It also plays music from a usb stick. However, when I plug my Note 5 into it, the lightning bolt displays over the battery icon in my status bar to indicate charging, then it almost immediately goes away. From this point on, none of the aforementioned devices seem to receive any power from the USB port and I can no longer play music from the USB stick. Everything gets reset when I shut off the car and turn it on again. After that, all the devices that got power previously get power again UNTIL I try plugging in my Note 5 again. My truck was built in May so I am pretty sure I have the latest update. Can one of you guys with a Samsung phone give this a try and see if your USB port stops working for all other devices (previously known to be receiving power) after you plug in your Samsung phone? Thanks in advance.

Got the USB adapter today @nartmot . Took a while since it came from China and they sent me the wrong one, so they had to send it again. Got the correct one yesterday.

Good news is that it works, phone gets recognized immediately, so that leads me to believe the issue is the oem usb port on the lower dash, but I don't want to claim victory just yet. I will be using it everyday next week to see if it continues working. If it does then I'll take this opportunity to move the usb port inside the center console and remove the oem usb port.

Buy the 3.5mm stereo to toyota adapter for the radio also and wire an universal usb/3.5mm audio port and use the usb for power only, that way I'll have 12V usb charger and 3.5mm audio in the lower dash and usb audio input inside the center console.

Lexus USB port will only recognize apple iPad iPod anything else that starts with an I. And it will work USB thumb drive music files. Android user connect via Bluetooth only.

I have an iPhone 7, I have had this problem for l the last 6-7 months. I bought my truck in July of 2017 and didn’t have this issue at first. Sound like an issue with the port/cable or the interaction it the iOS?
