Be careful with somthing like this (or really anything you install), it may not charge everything. I got one and it doesn't charge my phone, it charges my wives iphone and my zune. I did some research online and something about some items require more metal tabs or prongs on the usb charger than others, you can solder a thin piece of metal to connect the tabs to allow charging.

^ This is not technical speak.;) Whatever you do, make sure it charges what you want first before installing and finding out it doesn't even charge your camera or whatever else.

i have a griffin 12volt cig to usb that will power anything i have because ive tested it. really i just need a small tiny spot to mount the usb port because im just simply going to take that griffin cig apart and put wires from that to my secondary fuse box (all hidden and solder and wore loomed of course). biggest thing i need is like a finishing usb port something i can snap on and cover up the imperfections. any ideas how to mount the physical usb port itself?

i have this, sits flush with the dash, and you can take it out if you need to, and it has 2 usb's... works great for me.

ok cigarette plugs cut off when the key is off i have a second fuse box and would like this usb to be powered ALL the time i also want it convenient so i dnt have stuff in my cig lights all the time. i know the relay can be jumped to power the cig all the time but i dnt exactly like messing with the factory harness plus its much more fun to build my own

What about rerunning the cig lighter to your secondary? Sorry if this is beating a dead horse for you. My ony thought is the 3 "buttons" where your fog light switch is, someone on TW cut a usb opening into one of those.

Can you post a picture of your dash, not familiar with the first gen dash. Take a couple of pics in segments. You can pm me if you want.

Do you want in the dash, or would you be okay with a wire maybe in your glove box like a lit of aux lines are?

Simple would be like said above. Use the Griffin plug in either the cig lighter spot or one of the two acc 12v ports and run a constant 12v wire to that port from your secondary fuse block. Keep it simple. No sense in over working a usb plug install.

im not a rock crawler i dnt need sliders even though i am 4x4 i can build anything i want like that i have full access to a welding shop. i can mig tig and stick weld. if you would undestand why i want a usb hard wired it would make sense. it just more for a convience factor and i dnt want stuff in my cig ports all the time. and i dnt want to mess with the factory wiring harness what so ever
