The USB coming out of your new radio will connect into the new plug after you take it apart.

what is the best way to run it to the new stereo once I have connected it? I can't find any openings in the inside dash. or is there a socket or cable inside where the head unit goes that is from the blanks, that I can connect my usb and run it that way?

It should drop down from behind the stereo to one of the knockout panels below the AC. I have mine coming out of there for now until I fix the adaptor to fit it. You can see the USB cable next to the right of the cig lighter next to the other power source

These do not fit. The USB hole is basically square and will only fit the USB adapter. I bought one to add a second port for the HDMI-in on my stereo. What I ended up doing was creating a Frankenstein's monster from the port and a switch blank.

    Here are some details:

No worries. We just have a different part that doesn’t disassemble.

I have this. I made it fit in the blank. It goes to back of head unit then spaces under the as controls

To gain access and route from the back of the HU to the ports under the HVAC controls is a pain on 2nd gens but still doable. You have to remove everything from the threshold to the glove box including the center console to be able to remove the bezel and HU. Access from there to the lower ports runs well behind the HU and the HVAC controls and in front of the air box.
