A way back in this thread someone mentioned about disabling your cell phone if it's ever stolen. Law enforcement can also track a cell phone down to the nearest cellular "cell" using the 15 digit unique IMEI code. The IMEI is a unique number assigned to each cell phone and can be found by scrolling through the cell phone menu. By using the number, law enforcement can ask the service provider to locate the cell phone to the nearest tower and, in some cases, by using triangulation, down to a few meters. If someone steals your truck with your cell phone inside, law enforcement can track the location of the vehicle. A cell phone can also be a poor man's LoJack. Just buy a "pay as you go" cell phone and just hide it somewhere in the truck where you can plug the charger into 12v.

Another use of the IMEI number is to locate missing children or anyone carrying a cell phone for that matter. Write down all your various cell phone IMEI numbers and, if something bad happens, the police can zero right in on where the phone is.

As most have said; the remote remote will not work as the phone can't transmit the radio signal. Don't know where folks come up with this stuff; unless they have been exposed to just a little business and ammeter radio where sub-audible (and digital) tones do mean something.

I like how everybody thinks radio waves are sound. Radio waves are actually light.

Actually, radio waves are not light. Light is only a subset of the vast expanse of electromagnetic radiation, with visible light being an even smaller subset. Radio waves are also only a portion of the spectrum of electromagnetic radiation.

The only crazy thing that works, and I have shown people before. Go out of range of your key FOB, then put the key FOB on the bottom of your chin, right before your throat pointing up into your mouth. Open your mouth and aim your mouth at the truck. Hit the key FOB and I will unlock/lock or remote start or whatever. I have never really seen a reason to do this other than prove the radio waves will bounce off the top of your mouth and out of your mouth towards the truck, also kids think it is just the greatest thing ever.

The reason this works is because the antenna for the fob is along the "long" axis of the remote, but most people unlock their vehicle by pointing the fob at the vehicle like they would a TV remote so the short side is facing the vehicle.

Antennas produce a signal pattern that resembles a donut around the length of the antenna. The short end of your fob is where the signal's dead spot is. Some radiation is directed upwards, but not much. When you put it to your chin, all you are really doing is placing the antenna in its ideal orientation giving you more range, it has nothing to do with reflectivity of your oral palette.

Plus, in general, angle of incidence=angle of reflection, so if that signal did bounce off the roof of your mouth, it would be directed right back at your shoes.
