Has anyone figured out how to use the sat nav while moving? It can be a pain to have to stop all the time to enter different destinations.

    Thanks
    Phil

Have to use an add on device like a lock pick or something. Not sure they make one for the Tacoma yet

There's also a method they were using on the second gens involving wiring a switch in somehow, try searching for navigation hack in the second gen forums. I don't know if anyone's tried it on a 3rd gen yet.

    Voice recognition?

You can chose stored destinations while moving I believe.

Yes, voice commands. Some have problems with it but it has worked fine for me.

Hit voice button, say "directions to an address", say address, say yes. Navigation has begun. You can do that while driving and never have to touch the screen

Do you need to know, or care?
I haven't had much luck with that, but might be an accent issue, even though I've done the voice learning. I program all destinations I might use ahead of time and then just command "destination". One day the wife told her to fuck off, funniest thing ever! Nav couldn't find that destination, but deep down I wish it did.

    Just ordered one of these...

    http://cruxinterfacing.com/products/AVITY-01/index.html

Not compatible with all Entune systems, but supposed to work with what I've got in my truck. Probably be a couple of weeks before I have time to install it, but I'll try to update with the results.

Installed today. Works exactly as described on the website. The install was so simple and straight forward, I don't see a need to post pictures of it.

IMO the added benefit of this system is the T-Harness. Any additional mods I wish to make involving the head unit, I can tap into the T-Harness and not touch the factory wiring. I'm thinking of adding a switch to turn on the back up camera anytime I like.

If you could do that you could probably ad a front facing camera.

    kjp,

    Thanks for this info.

Not that I expect it makes any difference, but do you have JBL?

Which features are you using? I am hoping to confirm:

    1. Does it allows you to enter address data while you are moving? (godsend when I have a copilot) How does this work (all the time, or must it be initiated?)
    2. Does it display your iPhone etc. acceptably? There are reviews on Amazon where folks have problems with some radios. I want to make sure it works on the Tacoma.
    3. Does it have a way to get an analog video signal into the system? If you don't know, that's fine. As nortonian mentioned, it looks like you have composite input, so I wonder if one could add some electronics to allow selecting between multiple cameras.

    ***

    Anyone:

As far as I know, nobody has successfully implemented a "cut and add a switch" mod like the 2nd gen. I'm under the impression it's not possible due to CAN input, but I'm not sure that's actually been proven. Anyone have more info on this?
