I have another Utah related question and I was hoping some of the Utah guys on here could help me out. Helping out a coworker who maybe titling and registering a 2000 Tacoma in Utah for the first time.

What are the things the Utah vehicle safety inspection looks for and how strict is it?
Also, how hard or strict is the smog test?

    Thanks.

Depending on where you go depends on how strict they are. If the truck has any type of lift they look for mudflaps. Windshield cracks can not be further than 6" from the edge or over 21" Certain counties don't require a smog test only safety. Depends on where he lives. Hope that helps.
