I think its motor trend that has an article about fords new ecoboost v6 in the f 150. The numbers were pretty impressive

supercharged v6 over a v8 ... at least for the taco, the taco will never need a v8. the v6 and components can be modified to a supercharged v6 easier and with less work i believe...

    Rather have the Hilux 3.0L turbo diesel - 169 hp, 253 lb-ft
which compares pretty good (cheaper to run) with the 4.0L - 236 hp, 266 lb-ft

I would love to have the LS1 in the bay. I know that engine very well and I am partial to it over any V-8 OHC design as it is simple and easier to customize. There is a guy on xr-underground that is doing the swap right now. A ton of work that is not worth it (IMHO) when I can put on a S/C and get V-8 numbers. That swap is with a 2WD so much more work for our 4WD to do the swap.

    too damn many
i would like to see a tacoma with a better tuned v8 than the 4.7 itd be nice to see the new 4.6 from the 2010+ tundras transplanted into one with the 6speed it would help with the hp and torque issue from the beginning of this thread. the 4.6 is an impressive engine considering its smaller than the 4.7 but with better specs, but i did have this delima when i was buying a new truck i needed a truck but i needed the v8 so i got a tundra with 5.7 more truck than id need but will never fail out on me so id have to say no to a v8 taco i like the v6 and the 4speed and would not want to do anything to comprimise the proven reliability of the tacoma

    ALL OF THEM!...Then some more.
I think this thread should change a bit. I mean if i could do a swap i would. But not with the 4.7 that thing is guttless compared to the new 4.6. It makes 310hp and 327 ft/lb....that would be a massive increase over the v6 and even a stock SC v6.

Someone needs to put this new v8 in a Taco. It would be WAY faster and also haul more too....plus..you could SC the v8 too...

I agree! I would much rather have a turbo diesel than a V8 in my Tacoma.

I think it would be a great option for those who would want it...as for me, a 4cyl turbocharged diesel would be preferable. Or better yet a direct injection gas turbo

+1 On that diesel. A 3.5-4L diesel would be a much more reliable and versatile engine than a V8. Hey when the world ends, you can add a heating circuit and fill up going from McDonalds to McDonalds running on the deep fryer oil :D
