Nope, my DC V6 pulled a 17' boat with a 150 merc, 3 grown men (one who is overgrown) and a bed full of luggage about 500 miles and back with no problem. We usually take a Tahoe but I wanted to try my new taco. It pulled like the Tahoe plus got 14.5 mpg on the trip. I really don't think the 4.7 would've made a difference. The 5.7 however....:). A Tundra would be nice for trips like that.

I'm going to have to go with a supercharged V6 before a V8 in my Tacoma. My V6 has plenty of power for my needs.

Why not get the 4.7 and then get it blown? If that was an option and I had the money to throw around Id be down

^I believe the point is more about the cost difference. You know it Toyota would charge a premium for that V8 which you could instead put into a V6 supercharger.

My Tacoma pulls one of my boats but, for the other one I use an F350, Dually, Diesel. Remember: "Always use the right tool for the job." Best to not ask more from your truck than is reasonable. That only leads to frustration and repair bills.

the leading minor of order 1 is not positive definite.
i think this is why they made the supercharger...so they wouldn't have to offer a v8. you wouldn't really get anything from a v8 that the s/c can't give you, except for a nicer sound and a heavier truck. it wouldn't have a higher towing capacity...to offer that they'd have to do a lot more than stick a bigger engine in...i bet there are regulations that would force them to include bigger brakes, beefier drivetrain, beefier frame even, and by then you may as well buy a full size (which is why a full size is a full size, i guess). that being said, if they did offer a v8 and i could afford it, yes, i'd probably want it. same can be said if they offered it s/c'd from the factory. i'd want that. no good reason, really. i just tend to be one of those people who wants it bigger and meaner if i can get it, though it would be nice for taking off (up hill) with a load.

I think they should offer it, but the 6 is enough for me and what I tow.

Nope. I tow and offroad. Enough power for me, and still get 20mpg during normal driving.

I have absolutely no interest in a V-8 Tacoma.

If I needed more capacity than the V-6 provides for towing I'd really want a bigger truck. If I needed to go faster.... Wait a minute I don't need to go faster. Even the I-4 is fast enough to earn me an appearance in front of a judge if I get caught driving it "enthusiastically" on public roads. Besides that's what sports cars are for.

i voted yes and i think toyota would sell more tacomas and it also would give dodge a run for there money with the dakota v8. and here is a pic of a v8 tacoma

i would get the v-8 without even thinking twice.. one thing i did not see in this thread unless i missed it somewhere was were the tq and hp increase was.. just because it only has has x number more tq & hp at peak dose not mean those numbers are not much larger in other areas of the power band..
the truck would also probably get the same if not better gas mileage as the six..i mean the 6 and the 4 almost get the same mileage now as it is..with a better power to weight ratio i dont see it suffering much...the only other thing i would like to see would be rear disc brakes...

no i would not. mind as well get a full size pick up for a v8. its not even pushing that much horses so its a waste of gas. would get the 5.7 tundra instead.

v6 fits perfectly for the mid size truck the tacoma is.

Ask and you will find. Here's a dyno graph of the 4.0L with the TRD SC.
