I love Hagar, but think Van Halen was David Lee Roth.

Roth was a better front man.
    Hagar was a better singer.

    It's kind of a toss-up.

    DLR for sure.

I saw the 1984 tour two night back to back in KC. I was in the 4th grade, it was the coolest thing I ever saw at the time. One night was Michael Anthony's birthday, it was crazy.

Hagar took Van Halen pop, I mean really pop, that was my problem with him. With Roth it was raw, real wild in the streets rock n roll.

DLR. When they first exploded into the scene in the late 70's early 80's, nobody had heard anything like them. Eddie's "Eruption" didn't hurt either. They changed their style with Hagar, but still made excellent music. They just didn't have the same impact. But, Hagar has maintained his voice and stage presence to this day. Roth lost it all. They sound like ass now and EVH has become a controlling prick.
I'll have to go with the DLR era though.

BTW, have y'all heard Chickenfoot? Hagar, Joe Satch, Mike Anthony & Chad Smith. Good stuff.
