sweet, lemme know what he says, because I am just starting out to save up for the conversion and that would be nice to spend just that much less for the whole conversion

I believe with the inchworm adapter you still need the rear housing of the 4x4 a750f tranny, I may be wrong but that was my impression. The main shaft is longer in the 2wd tranny so the adapter would push the rear housing back further. That could effect the crossmember and where your shifter comes up. :notsure: The tranny was a pretty easy swap and keeps things simple.

Get a copy of the factory service manual too, can download off afew sites. Lists all the parts, bolts, seals ect you'll need and torque specs.

I'm going to get custom skids made up soon and going to get the crossmember remade, going to be beefier.

"The new Inchworm 5speed Auto PreRunner Adapter will allow you to bolt up a 4wd tailhousing to your 2wd 5speed automatic transmission."

That sounds to me like you still need the rear housing from a 4x4 tranny, which is going to be damn hard to find without the whole transmission

I haven't seen the inchworm setup yet in person but if it were me doing this swap I would stick with the 4wd transmission and not mess with modifying my 2wd tranny. Just my two cents though.

I have the inchworm adapter, it's about 2.5" thick so i'll be adjusting the front, rear driveshafts accordingly and also modify the trans crossmember.

think i've almost sorted out the wiring to install a tacoma t-case into a 2wd, hoping to test the electrical system in the next few weeks when work slows down.

I do wish I kept the 4wd trans from my donor though.

So you do need the 4x4 rear tranny housing tho with the inchworm Mike? Really interested to see how it goes with using the taco case and electronics.

yup, the rear trans housing is required for either method.

following the electrical diagrams, it looks like the 2wd with e-locker either have the same 4wd ecu or a "mini-4wd ecu"

the wires are identical for both systems, but the pin-outs are different and the 4wd have the ADD wiring and t-case bundle. looks like it also taps the signal from the ABS and vehicle speed sensor too, for the shifting conditions to be met.

i'm rather excited to see if it works, but i'll still trade it out for the FJ case :p

I want to commend you on your efforts for the truck, I know she appreciates it. I get frustrated enough doing lift work and diff fluid change, I can't imagine how irritating this whole process would have been for me if I had done it. The truck looks great!

And secondly, BC is somewhere I'd like to visit now, seeing this thread.

Lol thanks guys. It was a lot of work and research.

You should come up and check out BC. The mountains here are awesome. There's a ton of touristy things to do too. July and August are best months. Just be prepared for the cost, its not a cheap trip

Nice build man! Great to see more people from BC who get out and explore. I live in Alberta now but grew up/visit Nelson BC all the time. I did Whipsaw a few years ago and loved it (although it was entirely snow covered...). I'd love to come out West more and do some wheeling. If your ever interested in wheeling the Crowsnest Pass area let me know. Cheers
