Had the same issue! took my truck for alignment at Sears. As I drove away had the same light came on! I took it back and they didn't know what to do. Debating whether I should try this or take it to Toyota for warranty? :( Is the VSC calibration procedure attached for the 3rd gen? I'm thinking about trying this out tomorrow to save myself a trip to the dealer. thanks!

Just used this thread 10 min ago, dealer wanted $160 to run a diagnostic on an already fixed alignment. Worked great just remember the picture port is upside down. Its 4 holes in from the right not the left. 2016 TRD Sport, no issues.

If recalibration doesn't work, like it didn't for me, I was able to check the code to point to the problem. Not saying this is your issue but I had a wheel speed sensor not communicating properly. Individual wheel speed was sporadic, which was due to faulty sensor, or loose sensor. I checked all of them. All seemed good. But what I did find was quite a bit of corrosion on the hub assembly. I removed the sensor, protected the exposed part of the hub and cleaned up the mounting surface where the sensor is fastened. Reassembled, cleared the code, all is right as rain. Turned out the corrosion increased in the gap between the sensor and tone ring. Ultimately, I'll replace the hub and sensor on both sides since they've taken a beating.

This works, I just did the paperclip reset. It took me 3 tries but works. Took it for a long drive, no problems.

Tried a few times. My check engine light blinks when I click the wires but not the stability control light. I must be doing something wrong :( Anyone else have this issue... Maybe warranty will cover a reset lol

Ensure you are inserting the clips into the 4th hole from the right as the picture is upside down. So it looks like 4th from left, I did that tree times, lights blink but not the right ones.

I did disconnect for about 15 min, don't know if it was necessary. Used small diameter clips seat them all the way in. I think ots post 15 with the video, pretty exact on step by step. Also 17

Regarding disconnecting the battery...you don't have to recalibrate if the battery is disconnected prior to alignment.
But then you'd have to reinitialize other things; probably why they just perform the recalibration.

Noooooooo!!!!! This past weekend I hit hard and at a weird angle...... I need an alignment now, the steering wheel is cocked to the right. LoL. I was three hours away and it drives nice on the highway.

Did you get yours fixed and sorted out????? Thx to @McRib for finding this TW thread......6CDD717B-1777-4841-A415-09920D77F201.jpg0E2770F3-2892-4873-B7F5-199BC1DA106B.jpg

Did you ever get this issue resolved? I'm having the issue where inserting the paperclip into the pins does nothing. I've also tried it taking into account an inverted pin diagram and the check engine light turns on and off with respects to the paper clips coming into contact. My local toyota dealer wants ~$600! plus $165 for diagnostics, SMH.

Did you ever get this figured out? I'm got the same issue but also getting "headlight malfunction", no cruise control, and Blind Spot monitor malfunction".

I too am having the same problem. Got new tires and alignment and now have the vehicle stability message. My buddy tried the paper clip method but it didn’t work. Not sure if we did something wrong, but can I take it to my local mechanic who I know won’t charge me and arm and a leg, or is the dealer my only option now?

Turns out I have a bad Steering Angle Sensor. The Snapon OBD reader the dealership has couldn't get a good connection with the SAS. They checked it out and the circuit is bad. I think you should be okay, just need someone to recalibrate it for ya. Best of luck man.

Arios, thanks so much for that video! Following another vid and a written “repair” I found online, I ended up with more lights than I started with and was in a blind panic, thinking I fried my ABS. My Dash looked like a Christmas tree! Took a breath, started over and she’s running good with no codes and no lights.:taco: Here’s hoping it holds! Lol
