So I changed jobs and have been back driving my accord due to having to travel and not wanting to put the miles on my Tacoma. Tuesday I took my Accord in for a B 1 Service. Today on the way home getting off my exit it went crazy all types of lights coming on and completely over heated and seized up in the middle of the road. Had to have tow truck come get it and carry it to the dealer. Oil or transmission fluid all up underneath car and an extreme burnt smell. I am beyond pissed!!!! I have stayed on the service schedule since I purchased it, it is paid off and in excellent condition. WTH? I can only guess that the dealership didn’t put something back on or fill something back up. Once I got home I had a big stain where I park it on the curb in front of my house and a little something in my drive.

That blows dude, I hope Honda takes care of you and throws another engine in. Surprised it didn't stop when zero oil pressure was detected.

I'm surprised the check engine light didn't come on prior and give you a heads up. It did with my Honda when I ran the oil out of it. I was able to pull over and turn it off before any damage was done.

I work at a Honda dealer. Nothing is that color but coolant. A B1 service is basically and oil change and tire rotation. Everything else would be an upsale.

I would venture a guess that someone didn't finish their job. The dealer responsible should take care of this.

Hondas don't just "seize up." The dealer definitely effed something up. My parents had a 2004 Honda Odyssey EX that they bought brand new in May 2004 and had until May 2013. They put 130,000+ miles on it and never had a problem. My dad bought a brand new Honda Pilot Touring 4WD in May 2013 and sold the Odyssey to his boss. The Odyssey is still going strong with about 150K miles on it. My dad's Pilot now has 81K miles on it and has needed absolutely nothing except new tires, brakes, and other normal stuff.

FYI, my dad's childhood friend who lives in Kentucky has a 2010 Honda Pilot Touring 4WD that he bought used. In the summer of 2016, he brought it to the local dealer for some kind of relatively routine work. The A/C was blowing ice cubes when he brought it in, and I don't remember what needed to be serviced, but it definitely was NOT the A/C. So, my dad's friend took his son and his friends to that public diamond mine in Arkansas, and the A/C abruptly stopped blowing cold, completely without warning. Arkansas is no place to be without air-conditioning during the summer, so needless to say a fun vacation turned into a miserable one. My dad's friend brought his Pilot back to the servicing dealer, and they discovered that "a line had been disconnected." They fixed the line and recharged the A/C system, free of charge, and there hasn't been a problem since. The Pilot has over 100K miles on it now if I remember correctly.

Obviously, a seized engine is a considerably bigger problem than the A/C not working, but in my experience, Honda dealers have always provided excellent customer service. If you can prove that it was their fault, I'm 99% sure they will bend over backwards to correct it.

What year is your Accord? Is it a 4-cylinder or a V6? Manual or automatic transmission? How many miles?

Agree, I have a 07 pilot I bought used 4 years ago. It's got almost 180,000 miles on it and all I do is change the oil and filters. The only problem I've had is two of the regulators for the power windows have been replaced but thats it.

A former teacher of mine has a 2005 Honda Pilot, and it has electrical problems out the ass (specifically intermittent wiper control stock). She bought it brand new and it has like 160K+ miles on it. Obviously it's paid off. The damn thing just refuses to die. The A/C blows ice cubes, it has a surprisingly decent factory sound system, and it just keeps going and going like the Energizer bunny!

my daily driver (2000 civic) has 250k on it and the motor finally went. no compression in cylinder 3 - so, I picked up a motor from Japanese motor imports with 60k on it, drives flawlessly again. Here's to another 250k!

    Civics, Tercels...

    You can't kill 'em...

I work at a bar in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. There are two 1990s Tercels I see parked in Doylestown on a regular basis. One of them is about a 1992 I would guess, and it would give anybody who loves their vehicle and takes care of it nightmares. The paint is faded, the seats are ripped, the inspection stickers expired like a year ago, and I'm pretty sure the radio is missing, but it obviously still runs because I see it in a different parking spot everyday...

I've been seeing a lot of older import compact/economy cars around lately; Mostly Civics and Corollas...

I also see quite a few Dodge Neons and Chevy Cavaliers, and I've even seen a few Geo Metros and a Ford Festiva. One of my coworkers has a 1994-1995 Ford Escort wagon that he uses to commute to work (wife gets the brand new minivan). The Escort is a bit beat up, but it runs and drives great, the A/C blows ICE COLD, and it always passes inspection, so he holds onto it.

I think people are rebelling against the automakers (both domestic and foreign) by buying older vehicles with none of the techno-shit the new cars have...

Plus, you just can't beat the mileage of many of these older cars!

I still have a 1991 celica that still runs. I got it in exchange for putting a motor in a 1995 Honda Civic.
