Venting about my Honda Accord Experience today

Yeah this sucks! It was about a mile from when the first light came on and me getting off on the exi where it quit. The hot gage must have been in the hot zone. Never crossed my mind that the car could be running hot. This is my seventh Honda and never had one run hot. When I got to Montgomery and noticed the fan running after I killed it out. I even called Honda to ask it that was normal it running for a long period of time after killing it out and they said yes. Changed my plans this morning and going to hit dealership before I go to work. I’ll keep everyone posted!

So I’m at dealership this afternoon after I had to call and find out what was wrong. They say they were just about to call me. Said it was a busted coolant hose. Said they had to order one and would know if there was any permit damage till they got it in next week and put it on. I asked if they were not suppose to check them during the B1 service and he said they did and didn’t see any leaks. I said leaks and busted hoses are two different things. I said if it busted then the hose should have looked somewhat worn on inspection if the tech did his job. So I decided to come and visually inspect the hose. If they can find it. LOL! I asked what the worst case was and he said about $6,000 for a new engine. I said your telling me that it’s just bad timing that it busted two days after I had a service and he said yes. Unreal!

 

Working in a shop for 10 years, I've seen weirder shit than that.

 

$6,000?!?! What year is it? I just saw a used 04-05 Accord coupe (as in the whole car) at one of those "Buy Here Pay Here" lots, for $4,995!

 

Subbed for Final out come. I retired after being a Heavy Equipment mechanic for 30 + years, a good tech can put his hands on a coolant hose and tell by feel if it is good or needs to be addressed.

 

Actually its quite possible.

Hoses and other things can look great today and break tomorrow.

 

“Eversinsceu” is a term I hear a lot in dealerships.

Eversinceu did an alignment on my Jeep, my A/C has stopped working.

Eversinceu did my state inspection on my Mazda, I have this rattle in my suspension when I turn left.

Eversinceu replaced the tires on my Hyundai, my engine idles rough.

Eversinceu replaced my headlight bulb, my trunk is hard to open.

Sometimes humans make errors. More often though, machines just break when they break.

 

I agree with all the above. My only point is car was fine. Took in for a service that included them checking all hoses. The busted hoses was more like 1/4 inch line on the back of the hose. Tech had to get a flash light and show me where it was. So it the tech working on car only glanced at hose and didn’t run hand he would have completely missed it. Good news is car will start! The person I talked on the phone did not know that. So there is hope that it maybe ok! The hose had to be ordered and when they get it on they will able to figure out any other issues. So we will see next week!!!!

 

I agree! I would say my machine Honda has been more reliable than most people. This dealership has always done good work. I have always said yes on anything they said I needed or suggested even if I could have done without. Just bad timing for a possibly high dollar issue for the both of us. We are all damed if we do and damed if we don’t. LOL!

 

I’ve actually had a customer bring me a bill for 4 tires they had replaced at another shop. They stated that I should be responsible for $1,000 set of tires because did a $50 oil change and I should’ve told them when I did their oil change that their tires were getting worn. Wait, what?

Just because I looked at the car doesn’t make me responsible for everything on the car.

2013 V6 125,000 Miles

 

My taco blew a AC line at 92k. Clean out of the factory clamped end. They said it happens and in believably they had one on stock. Just weird to me as I have much older vehicle in my life without an issue, so sometimes it is just the luck of things... sorry for your strife...

 

Would you pay $6,000 for a new engine?

 

I did a hang and turn on a car once and let it go and a month later the customer came back with the brake pads in a box and was screaming at my service manager that we installed shit brake pads on her car. I looked at the pads and they were still new. Another shop skunked her and she wanted us to cover it

What are you going to do with the car if it need a new engine?
